Orange County Young Democrats Receive Project of the Year Award

Santa Ana, CA – Orange County Young Democrats won the 2010 Project Of The Year award from the California Young Democrats (CYD) at the CDP/CYD annual convention in Los Angeles for their Regional Invasion of the 72nd Assembly District, which was held by the disgraced Mike Duvall.

“Using a peer to peer model, we knocked on the doors of more than 1,000 young voters in youth dense precincts around Cal State Fullerton, encouraging them to vote for Democrats all the way down the ticket.” said Nick Anas, Chair of Orange County Young Democrats. “We went door to door in the very places where young democrats live and hang out, places that are too often ignored by traditional campaigns.”

Also recognized for her accomplishments at the collegiate level, Lauren Lee, from the UCI Young Democrats, received the California College Democrats (CCD) Woman of the Year Award. Lee was also elected as the CCD’s Vice President of Membership.

Chapman Democrats’ own Doug Arseneault was elected Region Director for CYD Region 6 – Orange County and the Inland Empire.

OCYD’s next action, an Earth Day Beach Cleanup, will be taking place Saturday April 24th at the Balboa Pier in Newport Beach. Endorsed candidates Beth Krom (CA-48th) and Melissa Fox (AD-70th) will attend to help clean up our beaches! For more information, please Click Here.
