Liberal Activist: This endorsement is a little but rough on my conscience.

Assemblyman Chris Norby

The Fourth District Supervisor’s race has given me a bit of heart burn the past few weeks. As most people have guessed, I was leaning heavily in support of Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly for the Supervisor’s seat vacated by “Cuckoo for Coco Puffs” Chris Norby. When Tom dropped that campaign I was left with several choices, 3 Republican, 3 Democrat, and little passion for any of them. That is why this endorsement is so hard for me.

I have made no secret that I am not very fond of the policies and positions offered by Fullerton Councilman Shawn Nelson in this contest. On 99 percent of the issues, I think the guy is flat out wrong. My problem comes when I see the damage that Nelson’s service on the Fullerton City Council has done to the people of Fullerton.

The situation remminds me of where the people of Fullerton sat in 2002 when they faced the choice of electing Chris Norby to the Board of Supervisors, or let him continue to destroy their city directly as a member of the city council. The voters ultimately decided that getting Norby out of Fullerton was more critical than the dameage he might be able to do as a County Supervisor.

As a result of that realization, thousands of Republicans, Democrats, and Decline to State voters banded together with the anti-El Toro Airport Agranistas, to run Chris Norby out of Fullerton to a desk in Santa Ana. What they didn’t count on was that the guy put in as his replacement, R. (Bob) Shawn Nelson, Criminal Defense Attorney, had more conflicts of interest than any other member of the Council. So many in fact, that on significant votes, he has to sit things out.

Speed Racer Nelson

If Fullerton is to ever be able to rid itself of R. (Bob) Shawn Nelson, the voters must once again rise up, put aside their political differences, and run R. (Bob) Shawn Nelson out of Fullerton (to that upside-down pyramid in the Santa Ana Civic Center.

So it is with hope, fear, and regret, that I, Chris Prevatt, offer my full endorsement to R. (Bob) Shawn Nelson for Fourth District Supervisor.

I’m doing this, FOR THE GOOD OF THE PEOPLE OF FULLERON.
