2010 Santa Ana Mayor’s Race- GAME ON!

The OC Register is reporting that Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido and his allies have fired the opening shot in the 2010 race for Santa Ana Mayor. When Alfredo Amezcua first announced his intentions to challenge the longtime Mayor, most pundits agreed he was the most credible challenger since Mayor Pulido won in 1994. This recent attack is evidence that the Mayor does fear the challenge that Alfredo Amezcua poses.

The attack came in the small Spanish newspaper Rumores, where an independent expenditure committee calling themself the Good Government of Orange County Committee posted ads asking people who had been clients of Alfredo Amezcua to contact two phone numbers and tell them their experience if it was bad. They have now upped the ante and placed an ad with the supposed testimonial from two dissatisfied clients who said they paid Amezcua $30,000 only to have him drop the ball. That is a pretty hefty accusation, the kind that would likely cause a client to file a complaint with the California State Bar. Yet a search on the State Bar website shows Amezcua has NO DISCIPLINARY or ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIONS filed against him nor any related action.

I am sure you are thinking the same thing I thought too, what a bunch of B.S. When you learn just who is behind this so-called Good Government of Orange County Committee it becomes apparent these are two people who would be willing to make lies up in order to promote their precious Miguel Pulido. The two culprits are Alex “Swap Meet” Vega and Victor Ibarra, owner of El Tapatio at 3700 W. Warner Ave. At this point I would ask you all to now boycott El Tapatio, as your money will likely be going towards smearing a just and upright citizen like Alfredo Amezcua. Lets not have our money become dirty money.

Alex Vega is known for spreading vicious lies about people who are opponents of the Mayor. He has an unwavering devotion to Mayor Pulido. He lives in French Park, always seems to have an endless flow of money, but doesn’t seem to have a job. He is best known for a failed swap meet at Century High School, where it is said he ran off with the money and ran nothing more than a ponzi scheme. Mayor Pulido denies any knowledge of this stunt, but what else is he going to say. It is illegal for him to know any actions of an Independent Expenditure, they are not allowed to coordinate. Like the Mayor is really going to admit he broke the law.

What this is a bigger indicator of is the threat they see in Alfredo Amezcua. The fact that they are attacking this early in the race is a clear sign that they fear his ability to create a wide ranging coalition of voters throughout the city. This is only the beginning, they are going to throw everything AND the kitchen sink at Amezcua. I believe voters are tired of these divide and conquer tactics. They are not seeing any improvement by the current powers that be and those who are attacking are fearful they will have to share power with other residents of the city.

  1. alex vega claims he doesnt drink but he must be on something. i remember him at one of the council meetings talking about spending time in the city jail when he was arrested and praising the cops at how nice they were to him and gave him “shhicken with the liitto red sause” that was so good. i’m cirious as to why vega was arrested.

  2. It will be curious to know the source of the person behind the data collection effort. It has been my experience that most roads lead to the Mayors office or one of the Mayor’s assigns.

    Re: Amezcua’s image.

You cannot use my photo of Amezcua because it’s a copyright violation and you all are stealing my property. I am a professional photographer. And, man, if you do, damn give me photo credit in order to cool my jets. Folk who work is public relations should especially know this. Carajo! (Send me a tip.)

    It’s LOU DELGADO, SpotLight Photography

  4. Sorry Lou. Took it down till I can check with Claudio to see where he got it. Will check with you before using your work and will give credit in the future if we know it is yours.

  5. Pulido uses many individuals to do this division strategy. An example is Alex Vega. He was given the permit to run the Santa Ana College Swap meet a few years ago which failed miserably.

The purpose of the swap meet was to me mismanaged to produce stereotypes of the Hispanic community in order to infuriate the French Park neighborhood and others with similar demographics against the Hispanics . This is one example that causes the divisions and solidified support for Pulido from neighborhoods with the demographics like french Park.

Pulido’s argument to this support group was and is…..support me in order to keep these types from running Santa Ana. In order to keep the support from these voters it is necessary to keep the city third world in appearance.

Pulido takes an active part in this as evidenced in the recent OC Weekly and Register Articles where it is alleged that Pulido votes on issues in conflict associated with a truck vendor business his father owns. The vast majority of Santa Ana residents from all neighborhoods appose the truck vendors but are necessary to keep a third world city appearance and are necessary for Pulido to keep his base supporters angry at Hispanics.

Recently Alex Vega and Victor Ibarra through a IE committee are attacking Alfredo asking people to complain about Alfredo’s attorney practices to disconnected phone numbers and offering examples of some complaints that have no follow up information. The IE committees treasurer is Kinde Durkee, a close friend and professional associate of Dennis DeSnoo who is Pulido’s campaign consultant.

It is probably not a conflict but a relationship that has been denied in the Register article by Vega,Ibarra and Pulido clearly exists.

The strategy is divisive and fact less. I am told that Alex Vega gets cash payments from Pulido to do this divisive activity to help the Mayor’s strategy for political manipulation.

The campaign needs to stay on city issues. What has Pulido done or not done to produce the sad state of Santa Ana and what ideas does Amezcua have to change the situation.

  6. The failed Santa Ana Business Bank and brewing scandal how the directors made out while screwing the investors is not going to help Al Amezcua’s mayor campaign that’s for sure. Stay tuned on that one.
