Now I know it is expected that the GOP would be opposed to unionization, but this is just a bit over the top. Republican senator Jim DeMint used the attempted attack on a airplane bound for Detroit as an excuse to voice opposition to unions. He warned, “The administration is intent on unionizing and submitting our airport security to union bosses’ collective bargaining.”

While most of us were still asleep, the United States Senate passed landmark legislation to reform health care. The legislation moves the country closer to the largest expansion of medical coverage since Medicare more than four decades ago. On a 60-39 party line vote the Senate concluded months wrangling to craft the Senate bill. The $879 billion proposal, is far from perfect, and still must be reconciled with the House bill in conference committee.
It seems that once the right-wing noise machine realized that they would be unable to stop health care reform legislation in the Senate they reverted to PolitiFacts Lie of the Year, Death Panels, to scare the hell out of people; just in time for Christmas. Palin, Morris, Limbaugh, and Bachmann all jumped on the wagon.
