Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez has followed through on her promise to donate the $39,000 she saved by not sending out her annual Christmas Card by mail to local charities. 31 charities made the list.

Sanchez solicited applications from local non -profit groups and and set up an independent committee to pick from those who applied.

One group – the Foster Care Auxiliary of Orange County will receive $6,000. Three- Colette’s Children’s Home, Vietnamese Community of Orange County Inc. and the Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance will each get $2,000.

“In this time of economic hardship and need, every bit counts,” said Sanchez. “My hope is that these donations will make a difference to Orange County families through the assistance that our local non-profit organizations provide,” said Sanchez. She is making the announcement this morning at MOMS Orange County in Santa Ana.

Acacia Adult Day Services,Assistance League of Santa Ana, Children’s Buereau of Southern California, Christian Latino Association of Music and Arts, Community Senior, Eddie Nash Foundation, El Puente Community Development Corporation, El Sol Science and Arts Academy, Eli Home Inc., Girl Scout Council of Orange County, Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County, HEEFs De la Libertad Scholarship Fund, Hurtt Family Health Clinic.

Also, Mercy House Living Centers, Moms Orange County, Orange County Community Housing Corporation, Orange County Rescue Mission, Orangewood Childrens Foundation, Providence Speech and Hearing Center, Shati Orange County, Straight Talk Inc., Taller San Jose, Alzheimers Family Services Center, Crittenton Services for Children and Family, Project Hope Foundation, Santa Ana LULAC COuncil,#147, and Thomas House Temporary Shelter.
