Pelosi at 15th Truman Dinner Shows OC Blue Power

Santa Ana, CA — As we reported on Friday, the Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) has confirmed the Honorable Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as the keynote speaker for the 15th Annual Harry S Truman Awards dinner.

The DPOC also announced that State Assemblyman Jose Solorio (D-Santa Ana) is the 2009 Truman Award recipient for his work representing families in Santa Ana and Central Orange County.

truman1Florice Hoffman is the Samuel Gompers Award recipient for her work with Labor and the Democratic Party; and Marti Schrank is the Richard J. O’Neill Life Achievement Award recipient for over 30 years of volunteer service to the DPOC.

“We are honored to have the highest ranking elected woman in the history of the United States of America keynoting our annual dinner,” said Frank Barbaro, DPOC Chairman. “With more than a half million registered Democrats here in Orange County, Speaker Pelosi will receive a warm welcome from the third bluest county in the state. We are proud and honored to have her address Orange County’s Democrats.”

Previous keynote speakers have included Sen. John Edwards, Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer, Sen. Barbara Boxer and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez.

“I am humbled to be this year’s Truman Award recipient and look forward to joining the Democratic Party of Orange County in welcoming Speaker Pelosi to Orange County,” said Assemblyman Solorio.

The event is scheduled for Friday, December 4, 2009.  The location will be finalized this week.
