TheLiberalOC.com has learned that the Republican Assembly member who sat quietly listening to Mike Duvall’s bragging about his sexual escapades was Assemblyman Jeff Miller. Our sources in Sacramento have told us that Miller initially revealed the story to Orange County’s own Jon Fleischman of the Flashreport.
We haven’t quite nailed down why Fleischman sat on the story but ultimitely the story somehow got out and OC Weekly’s R. Scott Moxley got a hold of it and ran with it.

Now Jeff Miller has been the focus of a recall attempt by GOP thug Mike Schroeder. Fleischman and Schroeder have been joined at the hip for years. So assuming Fleischman sat on the story, the obvious question is what did he have to gain by doing so?
I’m sure that and many other questions will be answered in the coming weeks. Duvall’s resignation from the Assembly will hardly close the book on this scandal.
Here is the link to the California Channel Video with Jeff Miller not blurred out. You will need to advance the video to 28:55 in the time-line.
We’ll let you know what we find out as we learn it.
Donate to the guy who should replace the guy who just resigned for bragging about cheating with a young energy lobbyist…

Right after Duvall finishes talking, and before Sen. Lowenthal begins speaking, somebody comes up and appears to adjust Duvall and Miller’s microphones. I think that is when Duvall first realizes his microphone might have been on…
“Our sources in Sacramento have told us that Miller initially revealed the story to Orange County’s own Jon Fleischman of the Flashreport.”
What was there to tell, that Duvall was banging a couple of lobbyist? or that it was caught on tape?
The previous does’nt make much sense because presumably a couple of our senators and assemblymembers are engaged in this kind of activity.
So what would Miller have to tell?
Why on Earth would Jeff Miller want to leak this story? To make sure everyone knew it was him Duvall was relating his sexcapades to?
Miller was a party to the conversation. If Miller had kept his mouth shut, it is likely nobody would have known to check the recording. At any rate, the Fleischman connection could be simply a case of Miller trying to get the Vice-Chair of the CA GOP (Fleischman) to talk his buddy Schroeder into backing off on the recall. Or maybe it has something to do with Fleischman’s wife having worked for Duvall.
Matt,
Why else would KCAL have blurred out who Duvall was talking to in the hearing video to (their words) “protect their source?”
Miller was the leak. And at a minimum he demonstrated a complete lack of ethics. As a member of the Ethics Committee he had a duty to report the possible unethical relationship between the Vice Chair of the Utilities and Commerce Committee and a lobbyist with business before that committee. Leaking the info to GOP leadership so it could be “managed” buys a lot.
I’m guessing at this point, but it probably didn’t buy him anything so he leaked the info to other reporters.
Also, it seems the OCRegister’s Brian Joseph has been hearing what we have too.
Chris:
Miller as the source of the leak just makes no sense. And why now, when he was gearing up for a Senate special election run is Sen. Benoit is appointed to the Riverside County BOS. Leaking the story was antithetical to Miller’s interest.
It doesn’t matter who KCAL blurs out. KCAL doesn’t control CalChannel, and that video is there for all to see.
Leaking would imply a strategy for containing the damage Team Miller knew would come their way,, and no such strategy is discernible.
