A few minutes ago the OC Register put up a story describing some of how Assemblyman Van Tran, despite repeated and specific warnings, disrupted the DUI investigation of Andy Quach.
According to the Register and the Westminster Police, Mr. Tran presented himself as Mr. Quach’s attorney. It was only after the sergeant at the scene threatened Mr. Tran with arrest that he stopped interfering.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave…
Bill,
Well said.
I believe in the interest of justice for all, including Andy Quach, that either the Los Angeles DA or better yet, the California AG office take this case. That way there can be no accusations of tampering or influence affecting the outcome.
I’m also concerned that there are so many he said-she said type issues involved, that we may never know what really happened.
If they left West Coast at 11:00 and the WPD got the call at 12:10 from the accident scene less than a mile away, where was Andy Quach for that hour?
And if West Coast only has a beer and wine license, why did another member of the party pulled over on suspicion of DUI less than 2 minutes before Andy Quach’s accident and state that they were drinking whisky?
I’m just glad nobody got seriously hurt or killed.
The breeze you’re feeling is Loretta waving goodbye to Van Tran. Andy Quach sends his regards!!
As the “community blogger” who first raised the question of Van Tran’s involvement in this matter, I do appreciate Deepa at the Register getting the answers to some of those questions.
I now get to ask the next question of one of the “community bloggers” who came to the valiant defense of Councilman Quach and Assemblyman Tran. This particular blogger, a Democrat and Santa Ana Planning Commissioner appointed by Sal Tinajero suggested that Quach’s intoxicated driving was somehow less of a threat to public safety than health code violations at a Lee’s Sandwich shop.
Sean Mill, why again are you standing up for a drunk driving councilman and his investigation obstructing mentor Van Tran? Where is your outrage over the people who served so much alcohol to Quach that he couldn’t get a quarter of a mile down the road? How can someone with such questionable judgment as you sit in judgement over conditional use permits in Santa Ana? Your lack of good judgment reflects poorly not just on you, but also on Councilman Sal Tinajero.
Not that you have the integrity of character to do so, but you should resign immediately from the Santa Ana Planning Commission. You should do so for the good of the people of Santa Ana, and your friend Sal Tinajero.
Don’t drag him down into the same pit of slime in which you dwell.
Shut up, Chris. You’re the one who said nothing but glowing things about Jo Ann Galisky after she replaced Carona. I never saw you apologize for that embarrassing stance. Stop being so sanctimonious, and stick to writing. If Sean is in a pit of slime, you’re in a canyon of it. Betcha this doesn’t stay up!
Anonymous Bonehead Commentor,
Whenever you get the courage to toss your crap under your own name, I’ll consider answering your crap.
For the benefit of our readers who are not Jackasses this is what I wrote about the grand jury findings regarding Galisky.
“There is more in Peggy’s story, I just get sick reading it, so be forewarned. If this represents the culture of leadership in the Sheriff’s Department, no wonder the culture is apparently so bad among some deputies on the line in the jail.”
Chris,
You need to hit Santa Ana College writing class.
That was a tough read dude.
