Candidate’s son died after apparent fall from cliff

IRVINE – Noah Krom, the son of congressional candidate and Irvine Councilwoman Beth Krom, died after an apparent fall from an Isla Vista cliff, Santa Barbara County authorities announced today.

Publisher’s Note: Out of respect for the Krom family, we have decided to await official confirmation rather than speculation in our coverage of this tragic event. Unfortunately, one particular Orange County blog run by Art Pedroza has no such moral compass. In addition to running speculation as fact, they have allowed wild speculation and rumor to flood their comment stream.

While we at TheLiberalOC have no control over the actions of Art Pedroza and his tabloid blog, we do appologize on behalf of the responsible blog community to the Krom family for the irresponsible actions of such sick and twisted individuals.

  1. I was tempted to comment but held my tongue. This is a tragedy that many of us could never grasp unless having it happen to our own family. What Art did was not journalism but merely irresponsible gossip. Thanks for calling him out, it was much deserved in this case.

  2. I’ll have more to say on Art’s unethical behavior; but I’ve confirmed that Red Vixen contacted Melahat to find out if Bruce Manning (who had a great comment on OJ) was working for the campaign (he’s not); and shame on you Sean Mill for questioning Bruce’s integrity.

But what thin skins Art and his team have to go after someone willing to affix there name to a comment rather than hide behind an alias. Is it really still free speech when a commenter’s comments are edited by a blog administrator?

Now I know why half the blog team there uses an alias; to save themselves from embarassment.

With the rumors OJ allows to fly as “free discourse” I’d be embarrassed to be associated with that blog. Free speech also requires a degree of responsibility. It’s sorely lacking from OJ.

  3. First off, my deepest sympathy goes out to the Krom family for the loss of a son.

Second, shame on that other blog. Who cares about “the facts” or if you got it right.

    Someones child is dead.

It should have never happened, and they should have never allowed the post or the horible comments to be posted.

Sickest of all was a comment left by a Sean H Mill at 10:43 am, where he said “Unfortunately for Ms. Krom she is a public figure. This story is newsworthy because of her. That is one of the drawbacks to being in the political game.”

Sicko. Hiding behind the “public figure” arguement only makes you look even sicker.

God forbid Mr.Mill ever gets elected to any public office where all his dirty laundry gets aired.

    Again, RIP Noah Krom

  4. Sean’s rationalization sounds extraordinarily like one left on Orange Juice by a “Matilda W” — that somehow, Noah Krom is “asking for it” because his mother is a councilwoman and congressional candidate.

This is the same guy who was overwrought about criticism of Edgardo Reynoso.

Sal Tinajero sure knows how to pick the quality for his city’s planning commission.
