  1. wow this is a shocker, I know her personally and she is great, but i am wary of her close ties to the Agran machine.

  2. Chris —
As someone who knows Mayor Kang and Beth Krom pretty well and talks to Lary Agran more frequently than the average Irvine resident (meaning 2 or 3 times a year), this notion of an Agran Machine is utter horsehockey. Beth and Sukhee are among the most independent people I know. Sure, they share common views and vote together a lot, but this perception that there’s this machine in place is …to put it simply..crap.

There are Republican machines in place. The Jannies, The Trannies, Curt Pringle’s machine in Anaheim, the right wing cabal in NPB, and the Caronies when they were together; but those all get a pass, because IOKIYAR (It’s OK If You’re a Republican).

Irvine is a progressive city; it went for Obama overwhelmingly and was a solid No on Prop 8 vote. Machine my b*tt.

Just show up Tuesday with your check in hand please.

  3. Indeed Krom and friends may be victims of evil republican conspiracy, but what I want to know is why declare so darned early?! Its not a high profile race like congress or senate, etc. I do hope to cautiously attend her kickoff to say hi and see what she has to say.

  4. Not a high profile race? Don’t make me laugh. The only OC target bigger than the ones on the backs of Krom, Agran, and Kang is the one on Loretta’s back. The OC GOP absolutely hates that there are three Dems on the Irvine city council.

You declare early so you can raise a lot of money. And a lot of money is what you need to win a seat in Irvine, because it’s a big city.
