All the President’s Agenda

6OK, so we saw President Obama here in OC this week. Now what? Well, how about making sure all this positive energy is translated into a budget that’s passed? And making sure the President & Congress can soon approach solutions to our problems in climate, energy, and education?

Obama for America has now become Organizing for America, and the Obama Campaign in Orange County has now become Organizing for America-Orange County (or OFA-OC). Stay tuned here for future updates on OFA locally. But in the mean time, why not join them in a weekend canvass? You’ll actually get to meet your neighbors, get your exercise, AND build support for a new progressive agenda for America all in less than 24 hours!

Sounds nifty, doesn’t it? Details after the flip…

USA-POLITICS/OBAMAFellow Organizers and Obama Supporters,

YES WE DID! Barack Obama is our President! And can you believe he was just here in our very own back yard?

In coming to Orange County so early in his Presidency, President Obama sent a message that our voices here in Southern California matter to him. In turn, he has asked us to act in working toward the change we need.

The campaign may be over, but our work is not done. Since the election, Obama for America has morphed into Organizing for America (OFA), and your faithful local organizers are slowly getting OFA in Orange County into gear. OFA OC’s brainstorming group has recently seen faces you might recognize, including Tom Arnold, Alisa Risso, Elyssa Fox, Marion Schmitz, Scott McLaughlin, and others.

We hope to both participate in OFA-driven organizing and develop grassroots areas of interest both nationally and locally. The core ideals look toward strengthening our bonds of mutual respect as individuals, influencing legislation to demand government that works, and improving our community.

OFA OC has amazing potential, but we can’t do it without you, your energy, passion, and involvement! So send your thoughts to organizingforamerica.oc@gmail.com.

Be on the lookout for an introductory organizing meeting within the next few weeks, but in the meantime, please consider getting involved with the Pledge Project below!

See you soon!

Canvass Pledge Project

President Obama recently submitted his first budget, and passing his budget plan is crucial now more than ever as we continue to face an unprecedented economic crisis. The President needs our help! He’s asked us to knock on doors and talk to our neighbors, asking them to take a pledge of support for this bold approach to renew America’s economy and invest in energy, health care, and education.

Collecting these pledges in support of President Obama and encouraging our neighbors to get in touch with their Congresspeople will allow us to demonstrate in a concrete way the urgent need for responsive leadership in Washington around these important issues!
