Recently there’s been a great deal of justifiable sturm and drang about the Board of Supervisors spending $326,000 to remodel their lobby. But really, these guys are pikers — amateurs.
The Washington Post reports today that outgoing Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne spent approximately $235,000 to renovate the bathroom in his fifth floor office. Interesting that both projects are on the fifth floor of their respective buildings.
The bathroom now has a shower. According to a career Interior employee, Kempthorne’s predecessor, Gale Norton, would use the gym in the building’s basement when she needed to shower.
In fairness to Secretary Kempthorne, the some of ancient plumbing in the building needed to be replaced.
But new floor-to-ceiling wood paneling to hide the new refrigerator and new freezer? The best part is we bought him some nice new pretty monogrammed towels, too!
In Orange County, at least we got an entire lobby. And some of us will actually get to see it.
Maybe he doesn’t want DOI employees to see that he has a small penis. After all, he IS a Republican and they usually have some issues.
