ACTION ALERT: Tell President-Elect Obama to Reject H8 at His Inauguration

In case you haven’t heard, President-Elect Obama may have OC’s own Pastor Rick Warren, of Saddleback Church, give the opening prayer at the inauguration next month. Supposedly, this is about showing “unity”. But for all of us who’ve seen Warren in action here in OC, we know Warren doesn’t want national unity if it means respecting LGBT civil rights or women’s reproductive rights. If you’re as outraged about this move as I am, please join me in signing this petition to the President-Elect to reconsider this decision.

It is appalling that President-elect Barack Obama would invite California Pastor Rev. Rick Warren, an ardent supporter of Prop 8 and someone who is opposed to the equality of LGBT Americans, to give the invocation at his inauguration.

Demand President-elect Obama to immediately rescind this invitation.

Please sign the petition.

Would President-elect Obama invite someone to give the invocation who supported eliminating the civil rights of a minority other than the LGBT community? Of course he wouldnt!

This is a slap in the face to the millions of LGBT Americans who supported his historic candidacy.

TAKE ACTION: Sign EQCAs petition to President-elect Obama. Ask him to immediately rescind this despicable invitation. Please sign the petition.

  8. The President Elect made it clear he didn’t want to be involved in Prop 8, which was one of the many. many factors that led to it’s passing. This selection is no surprise to me. Should we be inclusive with the minute men, the kkk, and other groups that suppress minorities? It’s bullshit and it’s a sign of Pres. Elect Obama racking up political capital. Any of you Obama fans want to defend him on this one? I dare you!
