Well here’s one that not many people expected. Community organizer Robin Marcario has managed to pull off a surprising victory in the race for Garden Grove City Council. Robin was outspent by Steve Jones, Andrew Do, Linh Ho and Trung Nguyen to place second in the contest behind Incumbent Steve Jones.
The smart money in this race seemed to be on Andrew Do, Janet Nguyen’s Chief of Staff, and Trung Nguyen, current Garden Grove Unified School District Trustee Trung Nguyen, who is backed by Assemblyman Van Tran. Linh Ho, was backed by labor groups and the Democratic Party of Orange County and was expected to rank either third or fourth place along with Jones.
The key to Marcario’s victory was walking every precinct in the city. Not having enought money to flood mailboxes didn’t seem to hurt her campaign at all. She let Nguyen and Do slug things out with hit piece after hit piece. Steve Jones and Linh Ho ran generally positive campaigns in the mail.
For me, Paul Lucas finishing either 6th or 7th is just icing on the cake.
Congratulations to Robin Marcario and her campaign manager Misha Houser.
Way to go Robin, I knew you could do it. You will add so much to this City Council. Welcome aboard.
Congratulations Robin!
I met Robin 4 years ago and was very impressed with her commitment to her community. It will be great to have someone like Robin represent the City of Garden Grove!
one small bit of good news locally.. congrats robin
Congrats to Robin! She is a true community advocate and will serve Garden Grove well.
I look forward to your continued service to our community. You are truly one of the good ones. Congratulations.
Robin and Misha proved that hard work pays off. Congratulations!
Congrats Robin, It was an honor to vote for you and outstanding to discover that you achieved success. What a wonderful thing for Garden Grove to finally have a person who is dedicated to the betterment of our city instead of using the City Council as a stepping stone to other elected positions.
Job well done!
