I said it to you yesterday… And I’ll say it again today. Now is the time to get involved! Please take a look at this important message from the Debbie Cook campaign, and please get involved!
With Race in Dead Heat, National Organizations Get to Work for Cook
Two national grassroots organizations are throwing their weight behind Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cooks campaign against Dana Rohrabacher, which is reported to be in a statistical tie.
Progressive Democrats of America are coordinating a calling campaign among their 150,000 members nationwide. The national PDA team, which arrived in Orange County this week, will be on high school and college campuses, making phone calls and helping do neighborhood outreach through Nov. 4.
“We’re stepping up our efforts during these closing weeks, said PDA Executive Director Tim Carpenter, A vote for Debbie Cook is a vote for a stable economy, green energy and the jobs that go with it, guaranteed health care for all, and an end to the war in Iraq. The choice is clear.”
Democracy For America Chair, Jim Dean, will visit this Sunday, Oct. 19, for a fundraiser and a rally in Huntington Beach, joined by volunteers from the California Nurses Association. Democracy For America has a large Orange County and Southern California membership, many of whom are volunteering with the Cook campaign.
Their help comes at an opportune time. Just this week, the Capitol Weekly in Sacramento quoted GOP sources that an internal poll has found Cook in a statistical dead heat with the ten-term Congressman. The Cook Political Report (no relation to the candidate) also has upgraded the race again.
On Friday, October 17, PDA is hosting a GOTV Rally and Press Conference with Rep. Loretta Sanchez, and candidates Debbie Cook and Steve Young will attend. Press Conference begins at 4:30 p.m. Rally begins at 5:30 p.m. Teamsters Local 952, 140 S. Marks Way, Orange, 92868
On Sunday, Oct. 19, DFA Chair Jim Dean will host a breakfast fundraiser at the Machinist Hall, 5402 Bolsa, Huntington Beach, 92649. Breakfast at 8:30 AM, $25. Rally and neighborhood outreach at 10:00 AM.
