  1. Chris,
I find this in very poor tatse. You not only insinuate violence to be brought onto an elected official but you mock and humiliate a homeless person in the same maneuver. I hardly find this the type of satire worthy of a Democrat such as yourslef. Truly tasteless and a barometer of your true character. Not very good.

  2. “I simply posted it”

Right. You’re fingers simply magically, uncontrollably grabbed a mouse a made the necessary clicks to post it. You had no choice in the matter.

  3. anon 8:57, AMEN!. and chris, now that you have shown how insensative you are why dont you do the right thing and take that pic down. just because some assho** decided to exploit some poor homeless woman doesnt mean you have to jump on the bandwagon.

  4. As Orange County’s leading conservative commentator, Pete Fundy would like to remind everyone that stealing shopping carts is a crime.

    Warmly yours,

  5. Do all you outraged people know more details about this than are presented here? How do you know this lady doesn’t know a bit about local politics and wrote that herself? TOO much outrage here. If it was her idea it’s cute.

  6. “Someone sent me the photo. It has been floating around town. I simply posted it. ”

    Chris,

When a campaign provided me with information, which in fact turned out to be true, about pending litigation involving friends of yours you demanded that I remove it from the blog. When I refused you had Dan tell me to remove it, apologize or else.

Now just because someone sends you a photo you feel the need to post it. What hypocrisy!!!

I guess the only line you have is protect your friends even if what is being said is the truth. If you want to demean or degrade anyone else that is fine, right Chris?

  7. Chris,

Aren’t you a delegate at the Democratic Convention? What do you think the Obama campaign would have to say about your degradation of a homeless woman? What about the Democratic Party itself?

Just imagine how much fun the GOP would have if they found out that a delegate to the Democratic Convention was using the homeless as props in tasteless blooging posts.

I would hope that our party leaders would offer a swift condemnation of your poor attempt at humor.

  8. Vern,

It doesn’t matter what WE know. It matters what Chris, the person who posted this pic, knows.

    Chris has not claimed that this sign and picture was this woman’s idea. Maybe it was, and maybe it wasn’t. In either case, it’s clear that;

    a) Chris doesn’t know one way or the other
    b) Chris knows it wasn’t her idea.

In either case, it remains a tasteless post.

  9. Chris,
I find your use of this photo and even worse your excuse for using, just as disgusting as Carlos Bustamante’s bad taste in humor in using the water bra comment.

I find it extremely disingenuous and hypocritical of you to use this type of gutter humor in the light of the situation. You went after Carlos Bustamante for making a bad joke in bad taste. Now you use the misery of a homeless person to further your hammering of Carlos Bustamante.

I think I will place a call to the Chair of the Democratic Party Frank Barbaro about this. I’m sure he doesn’t want his members besmirching the name and image of the Democratic Party of Orange County with this type of toilet humor. How much did you pay this poor woman to humiliate herself beyond how humiliated she already is as a homeless person?

I wonder Chris, is this the perception that is shared by all Democrats in Orange County with regard to homeless people? That you can exploit them for your own ends? How much did you pay this woman? Did you give her a sandwich? A night in a motel room out of the cold? Some new shoes? A referral to a woman’s shelter?

How does this reflect your perception of exploiting women? You are in par with Edgardo Reynoso in this action Chris. Shame on you.

  10. This post is about Carlos Bustamante. This post is not related to the Orange County Democratic Party or a presidential campaign.

If those of you who are so outraged at my “humor” I have a suggestion. Make a contribution to programs that serve the homeless in your community. Typing is easy, contributing you time and money is something else. I have, how about you?

  11. “I think I will place a call to the Chair of the Democratic Party Frank Barbaro about this.”

    Gee Chris,

That is an excellent idea. In fact I think everyone should not only contact Frank and the DPOC but we should contact the state and national party as well as the Obama campaign itself.

I doubt that any of those folks will find any humor in the degradation of the homeless. For someone who is going to serve as a delegate at the convention to act in this manner is wreckless and reprehensible.

I don’t want someone like this representing Democrats at the convention.

  12. Chris are you serious? You are trying to justify this post with the fact that you have donated time and money to some unknown cause in the past? You lambasted Democrats who highlighted their past volunteer efforts when you called them out for Non-Democratic actions (in your estimation). Now you do the same thing and expect a free pass? How pathetic.

That’s a true cop out my friend. You seem to think that you are afforded some sort of brevity that allows you to exploit and mock a homeless person to further your war against a man who used poor taste in humor.

I mean you are doing the same thing. You are exploiting a woman and a homeless person in order to denigrate Carlos who used an off color joke in a water bra comment. Now you, from your high horse, use the same tactic. I just don’t get it. I will be calling the DPOC to ask if they feel your post is appropriate and ask them to remove the link to your blog from their website.

You should be ashamed of yourself for exploiting a Homeless Woman. How can you honestly call yourself a real Democrat?

  13. Anyone who’s angry about this: please do call the California Democratic Party at 916-442-5707. Call the DNC at 202-863-8000, too. I can guarantee yours will go on the list of “the stupidest phone calls of the day.”

  14. quit whining desnoo. your candidates, pulido and bustymonte are the reason Santa ana is full of homeless pushing shopping carts, gangs and graffiti.

  15. “Gila, on May 27th, 2008 at 10:16 pm Said:
I am not a very proud Democrat tonight.

    Nor I.

Hoa Van Tran has brought nothing but shame to the Democratic Party of Orange County.”

And I suppose you are proud of the actions of your fellow Democrat Chris Prevatt today Gila?

I thought you were the defender of women and champion of the weak and downtrotten. What happened? Where’s the outrage Gila? Or was that just faux outrage before?

  16. Alloha owns her cart, it is not a store shopping cart.

She is pretty astute on the local politicians and has quite an opinion. But she does not vote. (not registered)

I did not take that picture which from the looks of it, was in front of the law office of the guy on the college board.

If the picture disturbs you, call the city and tell them to open the YMCA showers so the locals can clean themselves.

  17. None of you have any evidence this woman was taken advantage of in any way. Are not the homeless entitled to an opinion? Are you assuming a homeless person is uninformed or stupid?

    I stand by my comment.

  18. Thank you Cook. I had a feeling this woman wasn’t as lame and clueless as all these Concerned Democrats are assuming. Count me with Gila and Chris on this one.

    That said,

If it WERE an offensive photo, it WOULD be a really lame defense to say, “Hey! It was out there! All I did was post it, what’s the big deal?” I HAVE seen that line of defense abused in the past.

  19. Vern,

Please note that Cook did not claim that this picture and sign was this woman’s idea. He merely said that she has opinions on local matters. Until someone proves that this woman was completely responsible for the idea and execution of this photo, this will remain a a tasteless post.

  20. Vern, and anon at 102PM
This photo was not the doing of the woman in the pic. the woman was given the sign by another blogger and they took the photo. It was pure exploitation on the part of that person.

The fact that Chris Prevatt used it with the full knowledge of who took the photo shows that Prevatt is willing to exploit women and the homeless.

  21. dan, Thomas didnt use the phto. he probably thought for ten seconds and decided it would be in bad taste. Chris on theother hand should know better since he likes aspouse virtues of Democratic priniples etc. The fact is Chris prevatt exploited this woman by using this image. Its in bad taste. Something I would expect from a Republican. Not from a Democrat.

  22. Dan, I would not expect a Republican to find this image as expolitation. But I would expect more from a democrat. Especially Prevatt who likes to talk from his high horse. Gila is showing some surprising traits I would not expect. It all goes to show that these bloggers are just as hypocritical and self serving as the Red County Bloggersd they like to poke with sticks.

  23. “I’m surprised you guys are more upset with Chris than you are at Thomas Gordon”

Why are you surprised at that? If this picture hadn’t been posted, “us guys” would never have known about it. Thomas didn’t post it…Chris did.

That said, I’m just as upset with Thomas if it’s proven he’s responsible for this.

Does that make you feel better?

  24. Gee Chris,

Is it really legitimate to claim that Thomas “didn’t use the photo”? I mean, he took it, and then presumably sent it to Chris. I believe that constitutes “using” the photo.

    Chris’s mistake was posting it.

  25. OK, guys. Appropriate levels of outrage noted. I’m closing this string as we seem to be covering the same ground over and over again.

  26. After consultation with others of the bloggers here, I deleted, with their approval, a comment that contained an inappropriate and unsubstantiated rumor that violated our terms of use. It was neither a decision taken lightly nor a task I enjoy doing and one I hope not to repeat again — at least not any time soon. Thanks to all for your understanding.
