A Cardboard Likeness of Presidential Candidate Barack Obama was Destroyed After Being Locked Away in a Secured Storage Facility
COSTA MESA, Calif. – August 2, 2008 – Vandals defaced a large cardboard cutout of Senator Barack Obama, tearing off the head, after the display had been stored at the end of the night, after the exhibition hall closed Thursday night. Fair Maintenance personnel interrupted the attempted theft of the sign. The damage signage was discovered by DPOC officials Friday morning.
The Democratic Party of Orange County condemns this cowardly act and calls on the OC Fair management to investigate security measures for its exhibitors at the Fairgrounds and provide an explanation as to how vandals may have accessed the secured storage facility. If a political sign could be subject to vandalism, other materials for other exhibitors are also subject to damage and/or theft. The DPOC believes law enforcement should investigate and prosecute this vandalism.

This happens every year at the fair. My theory is that the fair employees are responsible for the defacing. They always escort the volunteers out of the building and it would explain why they never do anything to punish the supposed perpretators… And the same thing will happen this year. The fair employees will do nothing to rectify the situation.
