Santa Ana, CA –Artists for Obama is sponsoring a reception and silent art auction Saturday, August 2, 2008, to assist locally elected Obama delegates cover their travel and hotel expenses for the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado later in the month. The auction will be held in the Artists Village at the Santora Arts Building, 207 Broadway, Santa Ana, CA 92701 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
The Artists for Obama group is an informal collaboration of Orange County artists supporting Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign. The collaborative includes local artists who believe in the actualization of the democratic process in general. These artists represent a local creative voice and have become a part of what is now Barack Obama’s grass-roots national political movement.
Of special note is the participation of acclaimed artists Matthew Barrios Southgate, Marten Euchler, Misha (Ma’Heo) Houser (a pledged delegate representing the 47th Congressional District) and Vladimir. Each has contributed original portraits of Senator Obama for auction at the event. Additionally, several artist village restaurants will be donating sample fare in a mini “Taste of the Village” reception.
In Denver, all delegates will register their votes to nominate the Democratic Presidential candidate. All travel costs, accommodations and expenses are each delegate’s responsibility. “Artists for Obama” intends to help ensure the full participation of Obama delegates on the national scene by raising funds for local delegates. Proceeds from event participation and the sale of works of art in a silent auction will be contributed to a Delegate Fund to help defray the costs incurred by individual delegates.Â
Hosted by the Santora Artists Guild, the event will also rally and inspire supporters of Presidential contender Barak Obama and art lovers alike.Â
Tickets to the event are available at the door or by calling ( 714) 454-6486. Minimum donation is $15.00 per person.Â
Charlotte has her Art fair tomorrow from one to four and I told her then we were going to another sort of Art Fair.
She asked what it was called and I told her, “Artists for Obama”. Her first question was, “Is Obama going to be there?”
Oh well, I told her no, but Misha will be there 🙂 We’re looking forward to going. Gary has a gig out of town, so it’s just us girls for the weekend.
Heck Heather, meeting Charlotte will be worth being there. 🙂
Ah, that’s what you say now! It will be good to see you too Chris.
Charlotte was lovely and such a good sport. Thank you for supporting the event. I want to thank everyone who came for helping us raise money to be able to go to Denver!
We still have a ways to go, but to those of you who attended last night, a heartfelt thanks! I will be thinking of each and every one of you while we’re at the convention!
Oh, and my portrait of Obama, Seeing is Believing sold to a very committed Obama supporter, congratulations Gio!
