Former Bush administration press secretary Scott McClellan, a former pupil of Irvine Mayor Beth Krom when she was a student teacher, has a new book coming out about his time at the White House and it has former colleagues in an uproar.
Bush press secretary Dana Perino issued the following statement: “Scott, we now know, is disgruntled about his experience at the White House,” she said. “For those of us who fully supported him, before, during and after he was press secretary, we are puzzled. It is sad – this is not the Scott we knew.”
You knew he finally grew a pair and told the truth Dana?ÂÂ
Does anyone remember the name for McClellan that the Stephanie Miller show gave him? I’m drawing a blank.
Puffy McMoonface
i dont think for one second he grew a pair. i think he’s still a liar and a pig just like he’s always been. he knew before he took the job of “white house liar” that it was his job to lie and by taking that gig he made his deal with the devil. he knows that this administration will go down in history as the worst and hands down the most corrupt we have ever had. it will take decades to recover from this mess if were lucky. to me he’s just a rat jumping off a burning ship trying desperately to distance himself from the mess he helped to create by putting in the heads of the american people that they were doing the right thing. we have over 4 thousand dead soldiers and who knows how many dead iraqi civilians. and now he’s boo hoo hooing that he was some sort of victim? give me a break. if he really grew a “pair” he should devote the rest of his life helping the injured soldiers who came back and are now hurting and who’s lives will never be the same because of the gang he decided to join.and of course asking their forgiveness. maybe he can give the money he makes off his book to the soldiers. i dont think he’s any kind of hero for coming out now. he should of been a man and come out when it really mattered. sad thing is in a week this will be old news.
Yawn!
He got fired……….
My book in which I detail all of the aweful stuff Santa Ana Mayor Pulido does is due out soon.
Stephanie Miller’s name was Puffy McMoonface, I just had to look it up myself and found this question,.
Thomas,
Said Mr. Bush when McClellan stepped down…”I thought he handled his assignment with class, integrity,” the president said. “It’s going to be hard to replace Scott, but nevertheless he made the decision and I accepted it. One of these days, he and I are going to be rocking in chairs in Texas and talking about the good old days.”
McClellan resigned…he wasn’t fired…apparently he found a concience.
And you’ll note that nowhere in the White House statement is there a denial of the facts asserted in what has leaked from the book so far. Rather, attack the messenger instead of the message. Perino really turns my stomach.
I agree with Jose. He is a coward for not speaking up or resigning sooner.
Scotty says Bush can’t remember if h’s tried cocaine or not.
Dunno. So he resigned and wasn’t fired (assuming that wasn’t polite spin from Bush.) Still doesn’t mean the lying automaton found a conscience, it’s a better guess he’s seen how well Bush-bashing books sell and wants to cash in. And Jose S is right – where was his conscience when it would have made a difference?
After watching some of his televised interview I regret being so harsh on him. He actually doesn’t sound like a lying automaton any more. Still, where were these people when we needed them? He and Colin Powell and others have a LOT of atoning to do.
Nice picture of Bush, looking like the sour puss he really is. A la Dorian Gray, Bush is now starting to look like Nixon!
McClelland’s appointment as Press Secretary was an unfortunate purely political appointment. His mother had a long and distinguished career in Texas politics. His grandfather was Dean of the UT Law School. Not sure if he ever held a real job, aside from being campaign manager for his mother’s races. Who cares if he resigned or was fired? He relished rubbing shoulders with powerful politicians…. apparently loved the lime light, and achieved nothing on his own. He’s a weasel. In the absence of gainful employment, the $75k book advance and talkshow circuit, must have looked very appealing. All he offers is his opinion, like that carries any weight… no proof. Whether one likes the current administration or not…. the war or not…. Scott McClelland is a parasite… has never been the go-to guy for opinion about anything… least of all foreign policy matters.
Interesting take.
A “purely political appointment” … by the BUSH Administration.
“Not sure if he ever held a real job” … but he was qualified for a high level BUSH appointment.
“A weasel” who probably fit right in to Bush/Cheney.
Perhaps MCClellan is “a parasite” as you allege. If so, he fed off the taxpayer at the behest of the Bush Administration.
So your point is?
So he wrote a book about how terrible Bush is. Big deal.
If he wrote a book about how great Bush is, how many copies would be sold?
He might be a turncoat, he might have “gotten religion,” he might have grown a pair, he might be distancing himself, he might be a coward. Or maybe he’s just a capitalist.
I think he would be conisdered a patriot for telling us the truth from the start and resigning early in the process
