Newt: Republicans in Trouble

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has issued a warning to Republicans to change their ways on the heels of high profile losses of longtime Republican seats in the House.  This story in today’s New York Times has all the details.

My favorote quote: “Either Congressional Republicans are going to chart a bold course of real change or they are going to suffer decisive losses this November,” said Mr. Gingrich, who signed his Web post, “Your friend, Newt Gingrich.”

I wish we could apply this to state senators and assembly Republicans too.

  1. Dan, As you know, it took the loss of three high-profile “safe” seats for Newtie to see this. California Republicans will also figure this out after Rohrbacher loses to Mayor Cook (yeay!!) and the same thing happens with a couple other races.

  2. I find it ironic that Newt Gingrich is the one calling on the GOP to change its ways when this fire was started by him and his “Contract ON America in 1994.

  3. Wasn’t Newtie just on the Daily Show last week crowing about how great McCain’s going to do because of the fighting between Barack and Hillary? Oh, the words he will eat. I can’t wait till he’s back out of the public eye again teaching whatever dumb government class he had in Florida, with his fourth wife or whatever.
