Wow! I just heard some more exciting news about the Ed Chau for Congress campaign. Apparently, he’s finding plenty of success in translating his grassroots support into bankable support that he’ll be able to use to beat Gary Miller. Check out what just popped into my inbox. ๐

That may be grassroots — but it’s not CA-42 grassroots, let alone OC grassroots. In that list, the only locale in the district is Diamond Bar (2 contributions); the only OC location is Irvine (1 contribution).
Is there a blog called “The Liberal San Gabriel Valley” where you could post this?
Reader-
So what’s your point? That a lot of LA County Democrats like Ed Chau? Believe it or not, people from out-of-district are allowed to give to a Congressional candidate. I’m sure we’d also find this if we look at the FEC data for Ron Shepston. I don’t really get your point.
Look, we have NOT endorsed either Chau or Shepston here at TheLiberalOC.com. We have people here in our community who are supporting Chau AND people here in our community supporting Shepston. And so long as we have both Democrats running through June 3, we intend to report on both of them.
If you have info on Ron Shepston’s Q1 fundraising, I’ll be more than happy to report the good news here. ๐
Last time I checked Rowland Heights was in the district.
Also, 11 of Ron’s 27 donors this quarter were from out of the state. If it is not alright to have donors from Los Angeles County, which is one of the counties in the 42nd, then why is alright to have donations from people outside of California.
The San Gabriel Valley is in the 42nd district, so why are donations from there wrong. I understand that this is an Orange County blog, but that doesn’t mean that it is wrong to have donations outside of Orange County. There are three counties in the 42nd district. Donations from any one of them should be acceptable, not just the OC.
I’m a voter in CD 42 and supporting Shepston. Chau simply fails to meet one of MY PERSONAL prerequisites for candidacy – living in the district you intend to represent.
NOBODY CARES which cities your campaign funds are coming from (so long as they are a legal source and under the contribution limits). So far Ed has done a better job attracting investors to his campaign. Good for him. I hear part of it is his tenacity, but another factor is experience. He’s been through this before, has donors who gave to his school board race in Montebello, and has a better understanding of what it will take to win.
Every action a candidate takes should have a numeric goal in terms of Voluteers, Votes, Money, and Media. Too often, they get wrapped up in “feel good” events to generate good will, or even worse begin to work as acting campaign manager. Time, as usual, turns out to be their most important resource.
Does anyone know when these two will be debating? I really want to see them in action. Thanks! ๐
First Chau/Shepston debate on thursday 5/1 atthe DNOC meeting at sizzler in Fullerton.
