  1. Thanks, Jose! I updated the post.

The results are interesting. In the Clinton caucuses, the old-guarders mostly won. In the Obama caucuses, mostly newer and grassroots types won. Youth and skill versus old age and treachery. ;^)

  2. just asking-

More than a bit inaccurate I think. 😉

First off, James Romero isn’t old… And “old” folks like Marti Schrank & Reuben Martinez certainly aren’t “treacherous”. Pssst, I think a few Obama fans here might be a little jealous that we have such awesome long-time Democratic superheroes AND newer Dem activists going to Denver to speak up for Hill. hehe 😉

  3. I just hit the “senior housing” mark of 55, but I am not an old traditionlist.

I was amazed at the number of candidates who failed to show at the 48th.

I got in this to win, and I did, but I thought everyone would be like me, begging their friends to come support them. Never can tell, I guess.

I’m so excited! I have to buy my airplane ticket!

  4. I pinged my friends and neighbors but most everyone was coming back from Spring break and could not attend the 48th Clinton Caucas; so I made a hard choice (after being all on business all week) and took the family to Disneyland. I may still apply from press credentials.

Great post Gila; wonder how many other competitive bloggers will steal your details?

  5. The 48th District Obama caucus was a filled to the brim. We had 249 ballots cast. It is a big change from 2004 when I attended a caucus with 9 other people.

The greatest part of the day was feeling the energy and excitement exuding from Democrats. We need to translate this energy into WORK.

We can call for change all day, and if we don’t work for change, we have only “loud inertia.” Change comes by work.

Thank you to everyone who turned out to support me and vote for me. I am humbled by your support. I will work!

  6. Sally Stevens and David Walsh in the 42nd are core Obama supporters who the ‘old’uns’ (that’s the bloggers and party people) need to reach out to. Both are very impressive individuals who have a lot to contribute.

  7. Congrats to the people who really worked for the nomination. It was inspiring to see the young people (and eventual winners) in the 40th CD for Obama, make their calls, work the room and fill the location with their supporters. They obviously really wanted to be delegates over those who felt they could just walk in the room and walk away with a prize. Well done!

  8. small correction to the 47th…my name is spelled Misha, not Mischa.
Thanks! I’m very excited about going. This has been a dream of mine for a long time…and no, I’m not an old timer in OC — even though I’ve been an activist for quite a while. A lot of really great folks DIDN’T get chosen as delegates, just goes to show how much stronger we’ve become as a party here in Orange County.

  9. I have pictures from the 42cd up on Mike’s Daily Lockup. You can also view them at the OC Metroblog.

While I lost the race, I did finish with an impressive third place finish. I’m sure if my name wasn’t removed from the list I would have been able to really make it a race.

    Congratulations to Dave Walsh.
