Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook Wins Democratic Party Support

Debbie and grandsonMayor Debbie Coook’s campaign for Congress hits high gear. First is this good news in a press release from the Campaign.

HB MAYOR DEBBIE COOK IS ON HER WAY TO BEING DEMOCRATIC PARTY’S OFFICIAL CHOICE FOR THE 46TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook won nearly unanimous delegate support for her Congressional campaign during the California Democratic Party’s regional endorsement caucus held in the city of Orange Thursday evening.

By securing 96 percent of the delegate vote, Cook was placed on the fast track to winning the endorsement of the full state party, to be decided during the annual convention in San Jose March 28-30.

“People across this district and across the country are ready for change. They want a representative in Washington who will stop the partisan bickering, work hard and get results for the 46th Congressional District,” said Cook. “I want to thank the grassroots Democrats across the district from the Palos Verdes Peninsula to Costa Mesa for their overwhelming display of support for my candidacy.”

Cook is running for Congress after serving eight years on the Huntington Beach City Council. She has devoted much of her adult life and career to protecting parks, beaches and environmentally sensitive wetlands in Orange County . She considers reducing America ’s dependence on fossil fuels an environmental and national security imperative.

In addition to her duties as mayor of Huntington Beach, Cook is chair of the Energy and Environment Committee for the Southern California Association of Governments and chairs the Orange County Parks Commission.

Cook faces one challenger in the June 3 primary.

The 46th Congressional District spans a two-county coastal area from Costa Mesa on the south to the Palos Verdes Peninsula on the north. For more information, visit www.debbiecookforcongress.com.

What’s best about this is that we have a viable candidate who actually has genuine potential for unseating Dana Rohrbacher. Whether justified or not, whenever I think of Rohrbacher, he reminds me of B-1 Bob and Bill Dannemeyer.

Disclosure: I have donated to her campaign. I hope you do, too.

Next up, starting tomorrow, is precinct walking. It’s the best way to contact voters to tell them about Debbie and gain their support. There will be walks every weekend until the November election. Join in on the fun starting tomorrow, March 15.

  1. Congratulations to Debbie Cook! Gary gets to go to the convention to secure the endorsement of the party, but we aren’t too worried, he is the only nominee. We just were a bit late to the party 🙂

I hope we can help Debbie turn 46 blue as well!
