I know, I had a Scooby Do moment too; but the Register reported this morning that Amazon.com has designed Irvine the 4th most romantic city in the US due to the number of books Irvine residents buy on romance, relationships and sex. The article goes on to credit former mayor and current Council member Christina Shea for her 1999 Romance initiative.
That’s right neighbors; with the airport battle looming to a head, Shea led the charge for more romantic walks, sunsets and candlelight. It must be rubbing off on me because when the friendly TSA employee at the San Jose airport patted me down (or felt me up), I actually asked him, “shouldn’t we have a glass of wine first, to get in the mood?”
So for you Irvine residents cuddling up with your copy of Nancy Friday’s “Women On Top” or the “Kama Sutra” or “Dr. Laura’s Care and Feeding of Husbands,” you can thank Ms. Shea for worrying so about our Valentine’s Day prospects.
Any one who knows right wing Shea will attest she is a “ding bat!””
