Janet calls for a National Search for Interim Sheriff

In the Register’s Letters to the Editor section today, Supervisor Janet Nguyen called for a national search for a new Interim sheriff and has suggested looking outside of OC for a candidate.

“I propose that the county search nationwide to find the best-qualified candidate for the job. We should not rush the process – it is more important to get it right than to do it quickly. Attracting qualified candidates should not be a problem. The board needs to expand the search to seek out the best and most-qualified candidates, no matter where they live or who they know. O.C. residents deserve no less.”

And Janet is only one of five votes and they letter is sure to displease the GOP power structure behind the OCSD who will want their own person wearing that badge.

  1. Dan:

Supervisors Bill Campbell and John Moorlach have already said the same thing.

“…sure to displease the GOP power structure behind the OCSD who will want their own person wearing that badge.”

I’m sure it will. I heard them cursing as they boarded their black helicopters at the conclusion of today’s “How Do We Control Orange County This Week?” meeting.

  2. Notice I didn’t say “official OC GOP power structure” because I know how yo are when it comes to making claims of that sort. Good thing Schroeder doesn’t have to duck before entering the Helicopter….

  3. Janet doesn’t have the ability to influence any outcome on the Board. Going outside is a silly idea. This is a political appointment. The Board will want to seek out a known entity.
