One of the tools WordPress provides for bloggers is the ability to see what search terms are being used on our site. That is, if you come to https://theliberaloc.com and use the Search box up there at the upper right to search our site for instances of, say, “Diane Harkey,” we can see that you’ve done that search and how many times you’ve invoked it.
Allow me to make your life a little easier. Go to http://www.google.com/alerts and put in the word or phrase you want searched, and Google will email you periodically and tell you when the term you’re looking for has shown up. You can do this for the entire web, just for blogs, or just for news stories.
There you have it! The object of your obsession delivered right to your email inbox every day! What could be more convenient?
No need to thank me.
Gila-
I love you. Thanks. So does this mean I get an email whenever someone searches “far left crackpot Andrew Davey” or “corprocrat sellout Andrew Davey”? How fun! hehe 😉
You can use it to follow anything you like! I have Google Alerts set for quite a number of things.
A couple other useful tools: http://www.bugmenot.com, which gives you usernames/passwords for a number of sites (such as the LA Times) and http://www.tinyURL.com, which will give you a URL that won’t be split into multiple lines when you send it to someone.
Is it sad that my Google Aler is set for a daily delivery of John Edwards news 🙂
I love my google homepage with all the links to news etc. at a glance.
