Palm Springs-area Congresswoman Mary Bono has married Florida Congressman Connie Mack in a private ceremony.
ÂÂ
With Republicans claiming to be the party of family values, will BonoMack be blending their collective households into a single unit? Will she take his name? I mean, its downright anti-family to claim residence in separate states when Congress isn’t in session. Shouldn’t one of them quit to stay home with the kids?ÂÂ
It’s a pretty liberal marital situation on all counts. ÂÂ
Here’s the story:
Mary Bono, who was married to late singer-turned-politician Sonny Bono and replaced him in Congress after his death, has married U.S. Rep. Connie Mack.[..]
Mack, a Republican representative from Florida, and Bono, R-Calif., had been dating for two years. Bono’s chief of staff, Frank Cullen Jr., said Mack proposed in late August while the couple were on a camping trip in Arches National Park in Utah.
They make a lovely couple. Good luck Mary and Connie!
Dan and his endless quest to find GOP hypocrisy — even when there is none to be found.
Off topic, but…
Does anyone here like the new OC Blog/Red County format?
Ah Matt — thank you for that wonderful opening. I don’t have to manufacture Republican hypocrisy. It’s already pervasive.
The party that claims its for small government has grown the Federal Government so its bigger than ever while spending astromonical amounts of money and taking on more debt from the Chinese, Japanese and Saudis all to cut taxes of people who are already rich.
The party of limited government instrusion spies on Americans through FISA violations, looks into our bank records and politicizes the use of US attornies.
The party of individual freedom won’t allow gays and lesbians to have the same rights as straights do when if comes to marriage or civil unuions.
The party of “might makes right” renders our enemies to countries that permit torture, suspends habeus corpus and allows our president to declare anyone to be an enemy combatant for any reason.
The party that prosecuted Bill Clinton’s impeachment for an extramartial affair is mum on the outing of covert CIA operatives during a time of war that would be considered treasonous during another time.
Manufacturing Republican hypocrisy where there is none? There’s quite a bit of it to go around.
Dan,
Leave poor Jubal alone. I thought this post was worth a chuckle. And I thought that is how you intended it. Jubal’s had a rough year what with Carona getting indicted, the posting of molestation victims, and watching the county burn when he opposed better funding of the fire department.
One doesn’t need look to DC to find GOP hypocrisy. I pointed out enough of it right here in OC with his buddy Fleischman. Jon even obliged with an obligatory comment on a PR contract while ignoring his own time of having his (as Jubal puts it) snout “in the trough.”
Dan. You forgot a couple things relating to GOP hypocrisy. Remember how conservatives got their thongs in a twist over the missing records during Travelgate? Yet not a word over the millions of missing emails from this administration.
Then of course we have all those interogation videos at the CIA that have mysteriously disappeared.
Don’t get me started on what I left out. I had a meeting and had to dash. There are pages and pages to be written of GOP hypocrisy.
No doubt Dan.
Folks like Jubal, Fleischman, and Greenhut are lots of rhetoric, no follow-up.
It’s hard to take them seriously, certainly as journalism, even as political advocacy.
