Come & Get Your Democracy This Wednesday!

Now is the time to get active, today is the day to get involved. Well, OK, maybe not today… Try Wednesday, when DFA-Orange County will be meeting in Costa Mesa to find out what we can do to make a difference locally, regionally, and nationally.

OK, so what’s happening this month? Well, a very special old friend will be paying us a visit. Nathan Gonzalez, an original OC Deaniac, will be here on Wednesday to talk with us about what’s wrong with Bush’s foreign policy and what needs to be done to fix it. He’s the author of “Engaging Iran: The Rise of a Middle East Powerhouse and America’s Strategic Choice”, and he’s the founder of NationandState.org, an open-source foreign policy think tank, the co-founder and political director of Latinos for America, and a Huffington Post contributor. Oh yes, and in 2004, Nathan was a staffer on Howard Dean’s presidential campaign in Iowa and New Mexico. I’m sure he’ll have plenty of exciting Dean Campaign stories for us, as well as some thoughtful insight on today’s foreign policy challenges.

Oh, but wait… The excitement doesn’t stop there! Ginny Mayer, Candidate for State Senate 35th District, will be here to talk to us about her effort in taking on hard-right State Senator Tom Harman (R-No Independence Whatsoever). Also, Al Jabbar will be here to talk to us about John Edwards’ Presidential Campaign. This is part of our series introducing everyone to the 2008 Candidates. And finally, OC Military Families Speak Out will be collecting gift items for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Check out the RSVP page to find out what you can give to make our troops’ Holidays a little happier.

Oh yes, and speaking of RSVP…
