  1. Some commentary about why you positioned each where you did would be nice.

I’m a little surprised that you didn’t rank Jubal higher on your list. Also surprised that some of the Orange Juice bloggers ranked as high as they did. I would’ve thought liberals would like them more.

  2. Isn’t Chuck DeVore a State Assemblyman from Irvine? Oh, that’s right, he spends most of the day blogging because he hates government. Makes sense. Complain about government waste and then become government waste.

  3. To the Liberal OC editor.

I’m trully overwhelmed and honored to be ranked so high in this distinguished listing.

As you can tell from my lack of recent comments on your stories I have stayed off your blog so that I don’t help crank up your numbers. It must be a slow day for me to make time to see what’s new at your zoo.

How close did I come to number one? I will need to work harder for next years report as it’s difficult to stay in the top five.

  4. Read, people, read!!!!

It says “The ranking is in no particular order because we want to leave the ranking to our readers. So let us know who you think the Scariest OC Political Bloggers of 2007 are.”

We are supposed to suggest rankings ourselves. I personally am not going there, though.

  5. This “Top 10” list is unranked.
And it’s as much a rip off of the OC Weekly as it is a direct steal from Bill Lockyer who took it from David Letterman.
Can’t say there are many original ideas left.
I’d add Tomahawk from OCBlog and Thomas Gordon over at O Juice to my list. Dont read the Orange Punch, so they’d replace Mark Landsbaum and the rarely heard from Jonathan Constantine on my list.

  6. 1. Chuck DeVore
    2. Jon Fleischman
    3. Adam D. Probolsky

Ron and Anna Winship are too amusing and “out there” to be scary.

  7. We are honored to be included in your top 10 Scariest Bloggers!
    We are totality undeserving!
    We are not worthy!
    We love you guys!

Being just below Jon Fleishman is an overwhelming tribute
to which we are honored and flabbergasted!

Feel free to quote as at any time! Thanks Chris!

  8. I think you ought to add Dan C. to the list…he scares the heck out of the Reeps! And maybe Chris Prevatt too, as he certainly scares Moorlach and company…

  9. My vote is for Pedroza- his eating a sandwich in front of hunger strikers for peace was a real class act. Hard to trust a former member of the REDS central committee-or was he just a commissar? He brings that authoritarian style to all his endeavors.

  10. With apologies to the OC Weekly, Treasurer Bill Lockyer, David Letterman and anyone else not in the public domain, here goes:

    1) John Fleischman. Not even close. Not a blue bone in his body. A political junkie so full of ideological heroin that he lost his compass long ago. Mitigating factor: The Governor doesn’t call him anymore.

    2) Martin Millard(gracias gustavo). A Know Nothing escapee from a Berlin Bunker, he does his best writing when the moon is full. Mitigating factor: Alan Monsoor is one of the few people who are stupid enough to believe Millard’s ravings.

    3) Adam Probolsky. Leapfrogged up to #3 on the strength of a drive by blogging hit on Shirley Grindle(the shame). Also well known for a sexist review of female lobbyists in Sacramento. Mitigating factor: he’s not a Trannie.

    4) Steve Greenhut. He goes to sleep at night counting, not sheep, but union goons and Democratic liberals he can unload on at the Orange Puncher and the Sunday fish wrap. Mitigating factor: he has sent some heavy ordinance the GOP’s way in the last year(prediction–he’ll return to the fold to back RINO Rudy)and supports private property rights for the poor as well as the rich.

    5) Mark Lansbaum. Hear no global warming, see no global warming and speak no global warming. Reminds one of Mayor Big Bob in the film Pleasantville. Mitigating factor: He’s not writing for Total Buzz. Who reads the Orange Puncher?

    6) Assemblyman Chuck Devore. He’s easy to spot–he glows in the dark, courtesy of advocating for hemp and nuclear power. Best known for scaring Democrats by gaming the legislative process to force the Dems to make tough choices. Mitigating factor: Unlike many in his caucus, he has a brain and is willing to drop the gloves with anyone in the blogsphere.

7)Alan Bartlett. not sure why he didn’t make the official list but like Millard he’s gotta be there. Wakes up every morning praying for an Agran indictment, a crossing of the Formosa Straight by the U.S.S. Pueblo commanded by Rear Admiral Devore, and a exorcism of the Governor to get rid of the kennedy demon. Mitigating factor: not alot of hits on the Blue Report outside of Team Taiwan.

    8) Art Pedroza. Will go on a binge after he sees he beats out Jubal. Art is the Operational definition of load, fire, aim. Has gone through a Romney-like experience this election cycle, going from a Lupe Moreno campaign consultant and RINO-rousting Republican to a DTS let my grenades fall where they might. Mitigating factor: Will go after anyone(except perhaps Janet)and has some of the best analysis on Santa Ana politics you’ll find.

    9) Matt Cunningham- Sorry Matt, Art beat you out. He’s scarier. But matt’s scary too. Like one of Ceasar’s legions, he methodically goes after unions and Democrats and Disney and has a very clever way of focusing on what he wants to talk about rather than what you want to talk about. mitigating factor: He has a sense of fair play and his blog provides some great news coverage of county events.

10)Jonathan Constantine/Lary Gilbert/Ron & Ana Winship; Little to be scared of here so they are cellar dwellers. Jonathan is learning the trade under Jubal’s wings and hasn’t committed too many scary attacks to date. Larry is too nice a guy to be scared of although the length of a few of his posts are scary. And the Winships, well, I thought liberals all wanted Newport Beach to break off from the state and float away. Bon voyage.

  11. Scary?

Harmless, loveable, little fuzzballs, the lot of them!

Just ask their fan bases, hee, hee. ;-D

There are a lot of odd, strange, and “Scary” things going on, and to be seen in the OC, besides the reporting of these folks. ;-D

  12. Northcountystorm,

The only issue I will take with your analysis is that my transformation is real, unlike that of Romney, who is a flip flopper in the tradition of John Kerry.

I was a Republican my entire adult life…and eventually I came to see that the wool had been pulled over my eyes.

I am a Decline to State now because quite frankly neither of the main political parties appear to be able to consistently make good decisions that put the people first.

Look at the people who fought to defeat Measure D…the list includes both Democrats and Republicans. Look at the people who endorsed Carona. Again, the list includes both Democrats and Republicans.

The American people are tired of partisan hackery. They want their political leaders to do what is right for them and for this country.

Just look at the low approval numbers for President Bush and for the Democratic Congressional leadership!

The real power now lies in the hands of the moderates who make up a good part of the DTS voter segment. I am proud to be in their number. If that makes me scary to those who continue to cling to their tattered party banners, so be it. Viva la revolucion!

  13. Northcountystorm,

Smutty sizzle? I hope you were not referring to my blog, the Orange Juice. We do moderate our posts. We do not allow the use of the “F” word, for one thing. And we do not allow Stanley Fiala, the wife beater and sometime mayoral candidate in Santa Ana, to post on our blog.

I think that some take umbrage because we don’t cover up for partisan hacks. We tell it like it is. Sometimes that means taking on people who are not used to being slammed for their mistakes.

Do we cross the line at times? Perhaps. We try to affect social change in part by damaging politicians that we perceive to be making bad decisions, regardless of their party affiliation.

What we are consistently is unpredictable…and that can indeed be unsettling for those that are used to red or blue. Color us purple, like a deep bruise…

  14. NorthCountyStorm,

How dare you accuse us of floating when in fact we are
moving our wings as fast as we can! In case you didn’t
know….feeling the pulse of a victim is not the same as
writing a proscription for something that will cure you!

PS. Your list looks pretty right to us! But that floating
    comment…we expect better!

  15. FYI: There is no way I would ever back Il Duce (Rudy Giuliani). I support Ron Paul for the GOP and Bill Richardson for the Dems. I will support the the Libertarian if neither one of those men are on the ticket.

  16. Art–

I am sure your political transformation(including the latest shift from Rudy to Richardson) is real. You’ve laid it all out. But in fairness to Romney, he claims his flopping was a genuine change of the heart too. Maybe you both had a Paul on the road to Damascus experience.

Oh by the way, with regard to your hosannas to DTS’s and the indictment of Democrats and Republicans for opposing Measure D, don’t forget one of the central figures in the opposition to Measure D was Wayne Quint, who just happens to be a DTS.

On the smutty sizzle, your blog has it not in the posts (that’s where we see some ready, fire, aim as well as some bull’s eyes) but in some of the comments. You do moderate the f bombs (thank you) but not some of the sordid personal attacks and sometimes just downright crude posts. But don’t get me wrong, I love your substantive steak. Whether you are right or wrong on the substance, you bring it on about issues which is what a political blog should do. I don’t know anyone (other than perhaps the Santa Ana council folk) who want you muzzled about your substantive comments, whether it be directed at political hacks or political heroes. If someone is in the public square they should expect a good give and take. But some of your anon. comments come straight out of central casting for gutter politics.

  17. northcountystorm,

Well, you are right about the comments. Sean, Thomas and I have about had it. We have tried to be open minded, but today we had to delete a slew of anon comments about our families, our jobs, etc. Things are getting nasty as we continue to crack down on the many bad politicos in Santa Ana and the O.C.

But we won’t be stopped. Our main target locally is Carlos Bustamante. Over the next few days we will be scrutinizing his campaign finance statements. Things are going to get real ugly for the Space Commander…

  18. Jose:

As a founding member of the Blog Team here at TheLiberalOC.com let me make one thing perfectly clear. The actions of any of our bloggers to edit or remove posts basted upon the appropriateness of the content or offensive language uses is fully supported by the TEAM.

We rarely take such actions but you seem to be the main character that needs to be monitored.

If you do not like our editing your remarks we could try banning your ability from commenting. But I think that should not be the next step because you do have some good comments to make. Just tone down your use of foul language and for the most part your comments will stand uncorrected.

Your behavior is your choice and we respect that. Our response to your behavior is ours. We believe you should respect that as well.

  19. gary, chris, andrew, the point i’m trying to make is that she has looked the other way at foul language but chose to “edit” mine. i didnt cuss when she edited me thats my point. i dont come in here and use the f-word and other curses. but it’s ok for other people to say things and not get edited? thats what i dont get. i understand you dont want cussing on here and i have respected that but if you’re going to have that rule it needs to be applied to everybody on here.

  20. northcountystorm, you dont even know what i wrote but yet you’ve commented on this like 5 times?! and by the way, i dont do 90.
