On Thursday afternoon Nick Berardino released the following announcement to the members of the Orange County Employees Association.
We are proud to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with the County for all OCEA-represented bargaining units, subject to ratification (acceptance) by the members. The agreement is complicated and therefore we are in the process of developing the best possible method to communicate the terms to you. As all of you know, this has been a very difficult environment for public employees for the past several years. Your bargaining team unanimously believes that given this environment we have reached a successful conclusion with a fair settlement.
Over the next couple of days we will have the general terms of the agreement reduced to writing and we will then email the terms at a glance to you. In addition, we will be sending to every member’s home a comprehensive explanation of the agreement, which we anticipate will be in the mail by early next week.  ÂÂ
Voting will be on the following days at OCEA Headquarters, 830 North Ross Street, Santa Ana:
July 19 & 20:           7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
July 21 (Saturday):   9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
July 23, 24 and 25:    7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.In Solidarity,
Nick
Assuming the members and the Board of Supervisors approve the tentative agreement, at least there will be some good news for the taxpayers and employees of Orange County. 🙂
Well, that’s good. All we need now is for OCTA to make a fair deal with the bus drivers, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief. Well, one can hope… 🙂
