It seems that local council’s records on trip to Key West show spending on alcohol, pricey food, golf.
S’mores and “Kumbaya” it ain’t.
The Pier House Resort and Caribbean Spa is touted as Key West’s premier hotel, with three restaurants and four bars.
The Florida hotel’s Web site features a topless woman gazing at sun-dappled waters beyond a private white sand beach.
Guests are invited to “mix business with pleasure.”
Orange County Boy Scouts chief Leslie Baron and 31 Scouting executives from around the nation did just that in January, with the Orange County chapter picking up the tab for more than $27,000 in banquets, cocktails, rounds of golf and fishing trips.
Rooms for the three Orange County delegates were an additional $5,200.
I have to point out another irony in addition to that of a non-profit that just recently whined all over the OC about loosing United Way funding spending thousands on an exotic trip to paradise; read this from Steven Greenhut on Orange Punch December 20, 2006.
It should be noted that the Orange County Boy Scouts raised a big stink over the loss of funding, just three weeks before their vacation in paradise, January 10-13, 2007.

During the day (3 to 9) it is a JAZZ/LAID BACK Gentlemen’s (and some ladies) Martini and Cocktail Venue. At 10 PM every night as the SHUTTERS CLOSE and the music and atmosphere totally changes, as do the bartenders. Late night bartender BILLY is adorable and a big flirt! Shirts off, blinds drawn, videos begin, music beats and so do the hearts of those dropping dollars in the swimsuits and less of these HUNKS without HEELS.
Hmmm, they won’t let gays in the Boy Scouts, but they will let the Scout Masters loose in a gay resort destination.
These were not Scoutmasters. These were not the volunteers who make up 90% or more of the scouting movement. It’s a shame that those of us who give of our time and finances are going to be looked at in the same light as these scout executives by people who don’t know any better.

You are correct, these individuals are niether volunteers or “Scoutmasters.” However, they are the “Masters” (Executives) of scouting nationwide. There actions do reflect in a negative way upon the good work of scouting vo.unteers across the nation.
There is no way that such a vacation, at scouting’s expense, lives up to the example of good character, ethics, thrift, and leadership established by the mission and values of the Boy Scouts of America.
