Last night the seven UFCW locals and the corporate employers extended the existing contract by three more weeks in order to continue negotiating. The grocery workers’ contract originally expired March 5th.ÂÂ
So now both sides have until midnight on April 19th to reach an agreement. After that the extension is day-to-day and could be canceled by either side with a 72-hour notice.

Any wage increases that are negotiated will be retroactive to the original expiration date of March 5th.
