Waiting for Duong’s denial

Regular readers know that Irvine isn’t really my thing.  Dan C. has that covered—but Dan’s in New York on business, so I thought I would post a quick observation regarding the Irvine Mayor race.

Duong released a statement yesterday (read it at OCBlog.net) where he claims to be upset over a mailer that claims that Duong’s business is building strip-malls in Westminster that are in frequent violation of health, safety, and building codes.

Duong even threatens legal action against Beth Krom, but we all know that libel is pretty tough to prove when it comes to political free-speech.

And Duong’s release is missing an important ingredient: a denial.  None of the facts of the mailer are questioned.  Just a bunch of “It ain’t my job” bull.

YAWN!  Call me when there’s some news out of that city.

  1. Krom supporters should be celebrating.
In all my years of campaign observations, there is only one sign that is a surer predictor of victory than a threat by one’s opponent to sue.
If Mr. Duong actually FILES this lawsuit, I’d say Krom definitely has it in the bag.
These are desperate statements by a desperate candidate, plain and simple.
