The OC GOP is afraid of Pam Keller

WARNING: She’s a LIBERAL!

Be careful Fullerton, there’s a progressive woman that is attempting to win a seat on your city council. Consider this a warning. If you elect Pam Keller, get ready for free abortions at Cal State Fullerton…or even worse, “The Vagina Monologues” at Plummer Auditorium!

The Orange County Republican Party sent out another attack piece on Pam Keller, and this time included Doug Chaffee. Pam tells me that she gets tremendous satisfaction from the fact that the “big boys” are scared of her.

  1. I really would like to get the name of the guy who is putting together these hit mailers.

This mailer look like the horror posters from the 1930’s and ’40’s

“The Sky is Falling, the Sky is Falling….Ahhhh”

This is just the continuation of Republican hit-and-run scare tactics. They can’t debate on the issues so they resort to fear.

P.S. Larry is no longer Mayor, so much for fact checking over in Orange

  2. Oh nooooo! The OC GOP is mailing OC GOPers telling them these two Democrats are Democrats!

    That’s an “attack”?

What new depth will they sink to next? The horror! The horror!

  3. Jubal,

You’re a political consultant. You know the difference between an attack mailer and a mailer that promotes your candidate(s).

The mailers put out by the OCRP in Orange inform the Republican voters about the endorsed Republican candidates and are not attacks on thier opponents.

The Pam Keller piece earlier this week and this one are hit pieces that attack Pam and Doug because of their political affiliation.

    That is an attack.

  4. Chris:

For the record, I do some work for campaigns, but I am not a political consultant (those are folks who do it for a living, and the amount of money I make doing work for campaigns can’t be considered a living).

That aside: I suppose from your perspective you would consider informing GOP voters — in a city where the great majority of voters are GOP — that two council candidates are Democrats, to be an “attack.”

If you think being known as a Democrat is a liability, I suppose you would consider providing GOP voters with factual information about Chafee’s and Keller’s registration to be an “attack.”

Some GOP voters will care and not vote for either one. Some GOP voters will not care and vote for one or both.

Did the OC GOP do something wrong? Illegal? Immoral? No.

  5. To Alex –

I would prefer puppetry of the penis

    To Matt –

Actually, this s** was going out long before either party did endorsements.
If you aren’t part of the republican little boy’s club, you are bullied and bypassed by fellow council members and fair game for any kind of nasty hit piece.

On one level, at least it is out in the open now.

It is time the Fullerton City Council represented everyone in the community – not a select few.

  6. As long as the keep spending money on these things and not on Lyn Daucher who cares!

The citizens like non-partisan races to be just that. This will backfire on the OC GOP…

  7. Matt –
I frankly welcome the Republican mailers that show up at my house. They say “Vote No” on some issue, I vote Yes.

Frankly, I don’t why your party bothers with hit pieces like this. Put out fliers that promote your candidate without denigrating the opposition. If the GOP is in such dominant control, that should be enough. But pieces like this promote your party’s number 1 campaign tactic: fear (reading Doonebury this week?). It’s all about making the base be afraid of something.

But you’re right. There is nothing illegal here, but accuracy is quite another issue. You do need to admit that ther OC GOP certainly knows Larry Agran is not the current Mayor of Irvine and that identifying him as such on one of these fliers is: 1) grossly inaccurate 2) an insult to the intelligence of voters you are trying to reach. But he is a convenient Boogyman for the OC GOP.

As far as your claim you’re not a political consultant, please rethink that statement.
