I am the real Mike Lawson

A couple of weeks ago Susan Freeze introduced me to John Hanna, the same John Hanna that she had blogged about on this very site. So when Hanna said “Oh! Mike, you have done a wonderful job with the site.” I thanked him and was pleased that he reads this small little blog.

Then Hanna said something about how the website was long overdue for a makeover, I realized that he wasn’t talking about TheLiberalOC.com, but rather the new Orange County Democratic Party’s Website. He thought I was Mike Randall—half of the brains behind the overhaul.

“I’m Mike Lawson,” I explained. “Not Mike Randall.”

Thanks anyway. I’ll pass on your praise to Mike Randall.

Then surprise surprise when I open up the Orange County Weekly yesterday, as part of my normal Thursday routine and I see the following in Commie Girl’s Column:

“That’s right: Mike Lawson, the new exec director of the OCDP, had the temerity to want to enjoy the Dodgers playoff game before the debate started.”

While I’m pleased that my name is floating around in Commie Girl’s head, Mike Levin is doing a fine job as the executive director, and I haven’t the credentials for such a position.

When I emailed Commie Girl to tease her about the typo, she said that she was calling Levin “Lawson” all evening. “That’s probably why he didn’t say ‘goodbye,’” she wrote.

    And definitely the cutest!
    Thanks for taking the initiative to start up Drinking Liberally on Thursdays. It’s great to have a weekly event to look forward to!
