This Sunday and Monday, ABC TV (owned by Disney…so there’s your OC angle), will air a work of fiction about the events that led to 9/11.
Advance copies of the show were given to OC’s own Hugh Hewitt and Rush Limbaugh, and the content of the mockumentary places the blame on the Clinton administration. The right-wingrs got advnce copies to preview, but Bill Clinton and members of his administration featured in the “movie” could not get copies. Why?
The show consists of scenes the screenwriter admittedly made up (or “pulled from his anal cavity”), so there is a big push by progressive organizations to have ABC fix the show or nix it altogether. Its back in editing right now.
One of my conservative buddies chided me for the Democrats being the Party of Censorship. I reminded him that conservative outrage led to CBS pulling the TV movie, “The Reagans.” Read some of that protest here.
Read “Ghost Wars” by Steve Coll which lists President Reagan’s contributions to the run up in terrorism, which I don’t believe made the “Path to 9-11” film.
Former Senator George Mitchell is the chairman of Disney’s board; please write him to voice a courteous compliant about conservative media bias in this fictional program. Be firm and respectful and mention “The Reagans” program as a precedent.

I will be watching NFL football those nights.
Pravda is in full force.
yeah steve, and this time the dems are getting into the act. i guess they figure since they clearly cannot beat the repubilcans, they may as well join them. i’ve been waiting for 6 years for the dems to become a party of conscious and true progressivism. i guess i’ll keep waiting.
Scholastic actually yanked the classroom guide tie-in last night. It looks like the educational company decided that facts were important when teaching kids.
If you’re still itching to email, send an email with gratitude.
So Hugh Hewitt and Rush bo got advance copies and saw this docu-drama, but William Jefferson Clinton and crew have not seen it?
Then how did they know it was biased?
And why did they write letters threatening the ABC broadcast license?
I sent an email to Sen. Mitchell on Friday, and I signed another three petitions from the DNC, MoveOn, and someone else.
I sensed something was fishy when ABC ferreted out advance copies of the film to right-wing bloggers, but refused requests from the Clintonistas to get advance copies.
THomasGordon– there are people who have seen it that say its worse than we can imagine (a Salon.com editor on Bill Maher
s show Friday as said as much); the show never brings up the August 6, 2001 memo “Bin Laden Determined to Strike inside the US” and the production was paid for by deep right wing pockets.
The standard for libel is publishing/broadcasting something knowingly false. Albright and Berger both have a case for this.
