Not In My Backyard

I’m not a normal OC Politico that rubs elbows and knows all the jargon. I often have to do a few google searches before I can really get a solid grip on an issue or a story.

To prove my political obtuseness, I’ll tell you that since May when I first saw Orange County Register reporter Steve Greenhut call Cassie DeYoung “Cassie DeNimby” I thought that “DeNimby” was her maiden name.

Then this morning, I read Lurk’s post on the OC Blog where he called Cassie DeYoung “Cassie DeNimby,” and it made me think: “how odd that her maiden name and her married name both start with ‘de.’”

After a couple of internet searches, I figured out the joke…
