Start making a difference tonight

6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The Newport-Mesa Unified School District is presenting Immigration: What’s Up? To all high school students in the district. You can show up and meet other high school students to learn about what’s happening in immigration policy. There will be lawyers who are experts on the issue talking. Exercise leadership skills and come up with a plan of action to influence the debate in Costa Mesa. Free dinner will be provided by Taco Mesa. The event has limited seating, so there may not be seats available. 6:00 p.m. Check out the monthly meeting of the South OC Democratic Club. They meet at El Adobe Restaurant (31891 Camino Capistrano). If you show up at 6, you can take advantage of the Mexican buffet dinner ($12 per person). Tonight they’ll have a voting machine demonstration by the OC Registrar of Voters office, and beginning at 7, OC Sheriff candidate Bill Hunt and Deputy District Attorney candidate Sheila Hanson will speak.

7:30 p.m. The Patrick Henry Democratic Club has their regular meeting tonight at a Santa Ana Denny’s (2314 E. 17th, Santa Ana). Tonight the guest speaker is Dr. Gregory Benford who is an expert on global warming, a UCI physics professor and an award winning Sci Fi writer.
