City leaders agreed to cut about $4.5 million from city departments and unions in an effort to close a budget gap for this fiscal year. The cuts approved Monday night included suspending a police department physical fitness program, using police helicopters less, having firefighters forego raises for the next 18 months, and increasing employees’ contribution to retirement funds. No full-time city staff members were laid off.

My question to Lucille is are you feeling lucky, because the odds are against you in so many ways, it’s not even funny. If Curt Pringle was any friend of yours, he would have told you not to do it. That is not very nice of him. What kind of a friend encourages you to be a sacrificial lamb. So let’s break down just how ugly of a loss this is going to be.

The OC Register is reporting that Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido and his allies have fired the opening shot in the 2010 race for Santa Ana Mayor. When Alfredo Amezcua first announced his intentions to challenge the longtime Mayor, most pundits agreed he was the most credible challenger since Mayor Pulido won in 1994. This recent attack is evidence that the Mayor does fear the challenge that Alfredo Amezcua poses.
