Calls on colleagues to sign letter urging Secretary Clinton to label Vietnam a “Country of Particular Concern†for abusing religious freedom. “My colleagues in the Congressional Vietnam Caucus and I are urging Secretary Clinton to take concrete action to hold Vietnam accountable for its severe abuses of religious freedom,†said Rep. Sanchez, who is Co-Chair of the Caucus. “Vietnam has shown a complete disregard for the rights of its citizens, actively suppressing religious activity and persecuting people of faith. It’s time for our country to actually penalize these abuses and place Vietnam back on the State Department’s ‘Countries of Particular Concern’ list.â€
UPDATE: Judge Franz Miller has issued a ruling against Hieu Nguyen over his ballot designation. Hugh Nguyen got a little break though, he can use the “Assistant Clerk” title that he has with the Clerk of the Board. We have also learned that there is an additional challenge to Hugh/Hieu Nguyen’s ballot designation. This one of of his name. It seem that Mr. Nguyen, who is running for County Clerk-Recorder, has allegedly filed to run under an alias. Mr. Nguyen’s legal name is Hieu Nguyen. He is using an “Americanized” version of his first name Hugh.
A reminder to all those who are interested, tonight the Neighbors United for Fullerton (NUFF) will be hosting a forum on blogs and politics. UPDATED: It seems that Mr. Goedhart had not been happy with the way things were going at the district. On March 15th he sent a letter to the president and Board of Directors announcing his intent to resign in 13 months unless several demands were adressed by the board. He outlined seven points of contention between him and the board, specifically some individual members and the board’s Operations Committee. Goedhart’s grievances had taken place over the past 5 months and had not been resolved to his satisfaction.
“This was probably the most difficult vote I’ve cast during my time in Congress. After decades of failed attempts at reform, this Congress was given an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to finally fix our broken health care system. And just like any once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, there was a lot of pressure to deliver a perfect bill, one that would be cost-effective and deficit-neutral while increasing health care quality and decreasing the number of uninsured.
Poor Joseph Dovinh, our wanabe candidate for the Democratic Party nomination for the 68th Assembly seat just can’t seem to catch a break. Saturday morning the Democratic Party delegates held their pre-convention endorsement caucus for local legislative offices.
