In his eloquent “Letter From a Birmingham Jail” written in response to white ministers who criticized nonviolent activist tactics, Martin Luther King, Jr., wrote powerfully, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” It greatly bothered King that white Christians could stand by idly while oppression of fellow human beings continued unabated, “Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will.”

Arizona Passes Anti-Immigrant Law, Now What!

This is the Arizona state legislature for you. The Republican controlled legislature has approved of making Latinos second class citizens, claims President Obama is not a US Citizen (which I believe should qualify as treason), has said it is ok for husbands to rape their wives and that Martin Luther King Jr. is NOT a national hero. They are just one step away from putting Latinos into concentration camps, I better stop now, that just might give them the idea.

On Friday April 23rd Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed the state’s immigration bill into law. It is considered to be among the toughest legislation in the nation. Arizona’s law orders immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and requires police to question people if there’s reason to suspect they’re in the United States illegally.
