Orange County Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly announced today that he has decided to not run for the Fourth District Board of Supervisor’s seat vacated by Chris Norby last month to take his seat in the State Assembly. The possible replacement of Norby by a democrat was placed into question when Anaheim City Council member Lorri Galloway and La Habra Council member Rose Espinoza announced their desire to run for the seat.
Why won’t the Galloway camp just let the Baby Samantha rest in peace. Why won’t they use her memory in a more positive light to make her a symbol for a better social services system, a symbol for ending child abuse? Why do they use her memory instead to trash elected officials they don’t like?
The Orange County Board of Supervisors voted 3-1 on Tuesday to ratify the contract agreement with the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs. After working under an expired contract with the county since 2007, the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriff’s (AOCDS) announced it its members today that they have reached a tentative contract agreement with the County of Orange. Details of the contract have not been announced and they will be presented to to the membership at three meetings on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday. Voting will occur on January 20th.

Former State Senator Joe Dunn (D-Santa Ana) is proposing that the Board of Supervisors adopt a major reform of the Orange County political environment by regulating lobbyists and themselves thus establishing more transparency in the way county government decisions are made.
