During your campaign you said, “I am tired of hearing teachers blamed for our collective failures.” If you really meant this, Mr. President, then please stop blaming teachers because we are all tired of hearing this too.
In this week’s address, President Barack Obama vowed to continue fighting for the American people to ensure their voices are heard over the special interests and lobbyists in Washington, despite this week’s Supreme Court decision to further empower corporations to use their financial clout to directly influence elections.
With the Supreme Court’s ruling Thursday, CitiGroup, whose largest individual stockholder is a Saudi Arabian billionaire, can spend unlimited funds against any elected official who tries to regulate their activities. When they get in trouble again, legislators will simply give them another no-strings-attached taxpayer funded bailout, or else.

Former U.S. Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina has admitted that he fathered a girl with his mistress. Edwards earlier admitted that he had an affair with Rielle Hunter while he was campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination.
By a 5-4 vote, the court overturned a 20-year-old ruling that said companies can be prohibited from using money from their general treasuries to produce and run their own campaign ads. The decision, which almost certainly will also allow labor unions to participate more freely in campaigns, threatens similar limits imposed by 24 states.
On WednesdayJanuary 20th the members of the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriff’s voted on their new contract. Approximately half of the union membership, 886 members, participated in the ratification vote. The results were overwhelming.
