Unable to garner over 50 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s primary contest, Democrat Sen. Blanche Lincoln will advance to a June 8 runoff election against a challenger backed by progressive groups angry over the Arkansas lawmaker’s Senate record.
U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter on Tuesday was defeated in a Democratic primary in his bid for a sixth term after taking the risky step of switching from the GOP. Voters picked U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak as the party’s nominee and rejected the 80-year-old Specter in his first Democratic campaign.
Last week, Governor Schwarzenegger announced a revised budget that included even deeper cuts to our elementary schools, our universities and community colleges, and health care for seniors. These cuts will be devastating to our community and obstruct our local economic recovery.

Phu has a strong vision for California that will serve this state well. He realizes that we need to create jobs here in California to help us recover from this economic downturn. Furthermore, he knows we need a dedicated, educated workforce to fill these jobs.
Two more mail drops for Lorri Galloway in the 4th Supervisor’s race. The first is from the Orange County Labor Federation and continues with the theme of Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!
We paid a visit to Choi’s website and did email the Councilman’s fundraiser asking about his service in the South Korean military. There’s no mention of Choi’s military background on his website. Frankly, I find it odd for a Republican not to mention any military service. Look at Chuck DeVore’s mulitple references to his own miliary experience. Dana Roharbacher evaded the draft but is as hawkish as can be. Vice President Cheney is famous for having other priorities during Vietnam.
To great fanfare in his department, Hugh Nguyen graciously volunteered to take an additional 24 hours off each pay period through the end of the fiscal year. He currently works 24 hours per week as a manager collecting the full value of his pension and medical benefits as though he were working full time. For the record, Nguyen has arranged to work Tuesdays through Thursdays every week.

Phu Nguyen has dropped a mail piece in the 68th Assembly District in his bid for the Democratic Party nomination. It is a good introduction of Phu to the voters of the district covering his business and community leadership experience.
