Santa Ana Planning Commission Chair and longtime tenant rights and economic justice Community Organizer continues fight for working families

Santa Ana, CA – Isuri S. Ramos, Chair of the Santa Ana Planning Commission and a long-time advocate for tenant rights and affordable housing, is running for Santa Ana City Council in Ward 6.

Isuri S. Ramos, said “Santa Ana raised me. Now I’m running for City Council to fight for our working families, make housing affordable, support local businesses, and protect the rights of our immigrant community.”

Born and raised in Santa Ana, she is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants who first laid roots in the city on Minnie Street. Since childhood, Isuri has had a passion for public service, which is why after graduating from UC San Diego, she joined a local nonprofit and began organizing with tenants in Ward 6’s Lacy Neighborhood to fight for better living conditions, affordable rents, and park space for families in our neighborhoods.

Isuri’s experiences as a resident whose family faced housing injustice instilled in her a deep understanding of the challenges Santa Ana residents face day in and day out. That’s why, as Chair of the Planning Commission and in her previous role as Chair of the Community Development Commission, she championed and delivered deep affordable housing, supported union labor in city projects, and advanced environmental justice.

Now, Isuri is running for City Council to continue fighting for everyday families who call Santa Ana home and who need a neighbor in City Hall that will fight for them every day.
