Weiss warns of Libel Suit; But Against Who?

CA-47 Congressional canddiate has threated to ue for defamation per this social media post sent to the LiberalOC today.  But in ths post, she opens the door for her Democratic opponent Dave Min to sue for defamanation as well.

My question is: who is she suing?  The Daily Beast who published the first account that her campaign benefitted from her husband’s work on behalf of the Catholic Church in Orange County over child sex abuse claims, which her campaign did not deny but instead chastised for mysogyny or sexism? Or are they wanting to sue Min?  Here’s the statement:

And in this statement, Min can sue for libel over the charge he accepted corporate Tax money for his Congressional campaign.  He did not in 2018 and has not in 2024. And the Weiss camp knew this because they had an asterisk in a mailer noting Min took Coporate PAC money for State Senate.  Perhaps the Weiss campaign can explain support from State Assembly candidate Cottie Petre-Norris who had a ton of corporate PAC $ for her re-election campaign.  Is that OK?

Additionally, Weiss sends her kids to a Private Christian High School; yet she’s claiming antisemtisim in her compliant.  Pick one Joanna; Christian or Jewish?  Your carpetbagged district is asking.

  1. Or maybe sue one Plaintiff’s attorney Michael Reck, “a veteran trial attorney with victims advocacy firm Anderson Associates, who told The Daily Beast that the Diocese of Orange County exhibited a decades-long pattern of ‘callous coverup’ in an effort to place its reputational self-interest ahead of abuse survivors.

Reck specifically cited Jason Weiss’ legal tactics on behalf of the diocese, describing them as ‘aggressive’ and ‘hurtful to survivors’, in pursuit of a legal strategy that ‘thwarted’ abuse victims seeking remedy through the courts.”

  2. My question is does no one proof copy at Liberal OC? With misspellings and grammatical errors, its as though the writer is auditioning for LAT.

  3. As a resident of Dist 47, I am insulted that Weiss lives outside the border of our vast collection of neighborhoods. (Dave’s DUI was a series of many wrong decisions. Hence, Min is directly paying consequences.) However, evidence proves Min was mistaken for pushing an untested gene spike protein on children and treating God-fearing community gun owners as enemies. Why are these two getting free happy-conscience passes?

  4. Funny, at no point has Joanna Weiss nor her campaign contacted The Daily Beast to demand a retraction of their article which states the bulk of her $231,600 in personal campaign contributions didn’t, directly or indirectly, come from Jason Weiss’ work defending the Catholic Church in child sexual molestation lawsuits.

And even after The Daily Beast sent comment requests to Jason, his law firm, Sheppard Mullin, the Catholic Church Diocese of Orange, AND the Weiss campaign, NONE have demanded a retraction from The Daily Beast because the information is inaccurate or incorrect.

And the only comment was from the Weiss campaign in which they accused the reporter of being misogynistic. But again, the Weiss campaign did not dispute the facts in the Daily Beast article.

  5. Sorry, correction on one of my sentences above (wish there was a way to edit a comment):

At no point has Joanna nor her campaign contacted The Daily Beast to demand a retraction of their article which stated the bulk of her $231,600 in personal campaign contributions *DID*, directly or indirectly, come from Jason Weiss’ work defending the Catholic Church in child sexual molestation lawsuits.

  6. I believe it came in the form of a home equity loan which means they are not selling the house; but she hasn’t had a salary in nearly 10 years. Additionally, Joanna’s campaign manager blamed the Min campaign for the Daily Beast story and the editors made an extraordinary comment that they had not communicated with the Min campaign for the story. So Emma told a flat out bald lie. And you are right; they never denied the story but used inflammatory language to shame the writer for posting it.

  7. Karen Weiss had her political signs across the street of the public school where Dave Min’s kids go to school. So petty, until you consider her kids go to a $60k private school that’s all white
