Pelosi Supports Cisneros as a Champion of Women’s Rights, Quality Education, and Protecting the Environment

Covina, CA – Today, former Los Angeles County Congressman and Under Secretary of Defense Gil Cisneros announced the endorsement of House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, amplifying the campaign’s momentum and adding a formidable political ally to Cisneros’s corner in the race for California’s 31st Congressional District.

“Gil Cisneros is an outstanding public servant and leader,” said Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. “In Congress, we worked together to pass critical legislation to protect a woman’s right to choose, protect our environment, and end gun violence. As Under Secretary of Defense, Gil put our service members and their families first.  He led the effort in the Biden administration to stop sexual assault in the military, protect reproductive healthcare, and uplift LGBTQ+ service members. Gil is a shining example of an elected official that fights for people, not corporate special interests. I am proud to endorse him and I look forward to serving with him again. Let’s get Gil on the Hill!”

As one of the most powerful figures in American politics, Pelosi’s support is a testament to Cisneros’s capacity to drive change and his potential impact as a representative. It sends a clear signal to voters that Cisneros is not just another candidate but a force to be reckoned with on the national political stage. Recognizing Cisneros’s unwavering dedication to championing accessible healthcare, quality education, and economic opportunities, Pelosi’s backing underscores the campaign’s commitment to advancing a progressive agenda that resonates with the needs of the people.

“I am profoundly honored to receive the endorsement of Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi,” said Gil Cisneros. ”Speaker Pelosi’s steadfast leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing progressive values have been transformative for our nation. This endorsement not only reflects her confidence in our shared vision for a better America, but also underscores the importance of our collective pursuit of accessible healthcare, quality education, and economic opportunities for all.”

The endorsement comes on the heels on endorsements from Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis, neighboring California Congresswoman Judy Chu, the Hispanic Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ BOLD PAC, California Environmental Voters, SEIU California, Democrats Serve, the New Democratic Coalition Action Fund, Operating Engineers Local 12, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers, and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36.
