Much to the chagrin of former San Diego Mayor Kevin Falconer, conservative talk show host Larry Elder has emerged as the leading candidate to become governor of California if Gov. Gavin Newsom is in fact recalled. So much for Falconer’s “I alone can fix it” strategy.
You think voters would have remembered the horrible reigns of actor Arnold Swartzeneger as governor or reality show host Donald Trump as president. When you hit Elder’s radio show website, the actual first thing that caught my eye was a web ad for MyPillow. Elder’s crowd is the same as the “Freedums” who follow Trump, think Matt Gaetz is a rising star, and the power of his celebrity will guide him to office.
