DemOC PAC Recommendations for June 30 Rally at Portola High in Irvine #FamiliesBelongTogether

On June 30 we will join over 300,000 people who have signed up to attend 700+ #FamiliesBelongTogether events in all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico to raise awareness of issue of family separations at the border.

Carpooling is strongly suggested. We will try to meet at the entrance to the sports stadium at Portola High School at 2:45 and will have the DEMOC PAC Banner with us.

PARKING: Use Portola High School parking lot on Merit. Main rally area will be in northeast corner of lot. Your GPS may take you to lot on Cadence on west side of campus, which can be used for overflow.

MARCH: Distance is 1-1/4 miles to secondary rally point outside James A. Musick detention facility. All parking in the adjacent industrial complexes is restricted (private property). If you attempt to park there, do so at your own risk.

BE SURE TO BRING SUNSCREEN, HAT AND WATER!

TOY DRIVE: People will be making donations of items for an Orange County facility that is housing unaccompanied minors. Attendees are encouraged to bring the following requested items (NEW, not used):

Soccer balls

Volleyballs

Sports equipment

Outdoor game activities

Playing cards

Craft kits and supplies

PG-13 movie DVDs

Spanish books

MP3 players

SIGNS & BANNERS: Please feel free to bring signs and banners! We will also have some pre-made signs and supplies to make signs if you don’t have your own.

WEAR WHITE: MoveOn is asking all attendees to the over 500 marches on June 30 to wear white as a show of solidarity. Locally, we are also asking everyone to wear a YELLOW RIBBON.

Many speakers lined up, including local immigrants’ rights activist Monica Brasov-Curca from Activate Labs, immigration attorney Jennifer Lee Koh from Orange County Justice Fund, Holocaust survivor Margaret Houffelaar, clergy, community leaders, local elected officials, and more.

Hope to see you all Saturday
