Press Release: Orange County Leads the Way to Save Democracy

Orange County, CA – Republican Party of Orange County Chairman Will O’Neill released the following statement praising the lawsuit filed against the illegal Gavin-mander of California’s Congressional districts:

“Orange County state leaders Senator Tony Strickland, Assemblyman Tri Ta, and Assemblywoman Kate Sanchez stepped up to lead the fight against Gavin Newsom’s illegal Gavin-mander of California’s congressional districts.

Together with Senator Suzette Valladares, our state leaders filed an emergency lawsuit in the California Supreme Court to stop Sacramento’s elite from violating our California Constitution.

That Sacramento elite has consistently told voters that they must destroy democracy to “save democracy.” Now they are telling voters that they must violate the Constitution to “save” the Constitution.  Enough with this farce.  Rules that the elite are violating exist to constrain the worst impulses of a power-hungry majority. Our California Constitution must stop the rushed backroom darkness currently pervading our state capitol.

Orange County is no stranger to fighting back against Gavin Newsom. Whether it is in the court room or the ballot box, we will defeat Gavin Newsom and actually save democracy via the rule of law and constitutional principles.”
